Is this the worst button layout in Arcade history?

>> No.8449898

>>8449892
SF1 was worse.

>> No.8449905

>>8449892
Nothing wrong with this layout for how the game uses it.

>> No.8449936

MK is definitely one fighting game that works better on pad. Shoulder buttons for block is very natural compared to a central button.

>>8449905
Its horribly spread out. SNK and Capcom fighters had the right idea.

Why the fuck is the block button down the bottom? Why the fuck does MK even use a block button?

Do you ask that of Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur?

If you want to to get a bit out of /vr/ territory, pic related is School of Ragnarok. (the black nub is the camera control, so you have to keep your thumb on it for most of the game)

Tekken is 3D and it uses back.

>> No.8450359

It doesn't use back, you have to have stick in neutral to block. Stfu

Bad arcade layouts are kind of hard to find, mainly because publishers knew what worked and stuck to that and even the more out there stuff bad easy to grasp and use controls. This however, is a way too complex for a game like Burger Time

>> No.8450434

>>8450398
The original Burger time only had one joystick and a button. The machine you posted contains Karate Champ, according to the front, so it has to have four joysticks.

This game looks fucking stupid too. What was this, some no-name american dev trying to make THE MAJOR LEAGUE OF GAMING?

>> No.8450458

>>8450452
It's basically The Running Man in video game form, similar to Smash TV but a free for all.

>> No.8450472

>>8450452
It was one of Midway Games' (Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Gauntlet Legends, Cruis'n USA, Hydro Thunder, ect) very last arcade games before they closed down their arcade division. The idea was to bring the concept of arena shooters to the arcade, but due to the state arcades were in when it came out, it was pretty hard to actually get a 6 player match going on it so it never really took off.

It's EXTREMELY popular at pay-at-the-door retro arcades these days, though. I swear to god, it's the most played game at Galloping Ghost.

Understandable, however the button placement on the right, underneath the joystick looks absolutely awful

>> No.8451360

>>8449967
Try pressing it on the real machine.
