It's more like a rich man's zelda, there's not really any systems the game shares with dark cloud. Combat is really frenetic where you're switching weapons frequently, riding your mount and juggling all kinds of foes and the puzzle solving is much more fluid and less rigid than zelda games. dark cloud doesn't exactly have any puzzles.

If there's an emulation general somewhere on this site I can't find it, so I'll ask here. Any good ways to use more of my GPU in PCSX2, and generally reduce slowdown? R&C 2 is maxing out my R7 2700 and lagging but GPU (GS) is only at like 20%.

Nevermind, before I didn't notice a difference but now DX11 seems to perform flawlessly. GPU still barely utilized though.

persona 3 FES is better than the later persona 3 portable as portable has major presentation cutbacks for the weaker hardware
the kingdom hearts series is less censored on PS2 than on later platforms, though the only completely uncensored versions are the initial japanese versions which also have less content
burnout dominator, unlike most late PS2 games that were also developed for PSP, is nice looking and similar quality to the previous burnout games for PS2

Graphics and atmosphere in this ps2-only fps may have been noteworthy when it came out, with lots of details and movable objects in the environment, but mostly it's just another fun Sierra shooter from the time. It feels like the missing link between Nolf and Fear even though Monolith had nothing to do with it.

The Red Star was a cool shootemup/ beat em up hybrid. The X Men Legend 2 game is great fun with co op but also a blast alone, very fun marshy RPG. Lastly I’d like to recommend Viewtiful Joe and The Adventures of Cookie and Cream

Stella Deus is a decent one-off tactical rpg by Atlus that has the SMT character design.

When Shinji dies I cried like a bitch on P3P, yet on PS2 I was ROFLMAO'ing irl because the direction was so fucking bad. Everything looked like shit, the timing of the lines was terrible, the music was cringe, it was a shitshow. P3P is unironically more animate because you (hopefully) have your brain at your disposal instead of low-budget anime cutscenes

Not to mention the UI is so much better on Portable. The menus are snappy and you get instant feedback. On PS2 though, selecting ANY submenu will give you 2 seconds of lag.

The gameplay is also a lot better on PSP, and when you're playing a JRPG you need to take all you can get in this department. You can teach a Persona skills with a skill card instead of relying on RNG builds from fusion. You can control your party members! And of course, there is a Defend command now

And lastly, in lieu of the dreadful "Answer" (which you would be better off watching cutscenes of on YouTube), we have an alternate version of the campaign with new social links and music. Honestly it is better than the main campaign, these social links are probably the best in the series

My main problem with party members in FES is that the AI is absolutely fucked, every single option but full assault has some quirk that will inevitably fuck you over repeatedly. Set Mitsuru to act freely? Enjoy having her waste her first turn with marin karin. Want Yukari to use heal everyone with media skills? Too bad fucker, your entire party is about to get slammed but technically you don't have two members under 50% HP so she's only going to heal one of then (and often herself first). Want someone to focus on buffs and healing in balance assuming they have access to both? No can do, they will focus mainly on healing anyway. Someone's at under 50-60 SP? Eat shit MC-kun because your asshole friends will start using medicines to heal for literally no reason even if you don't have them set to reserve SP.

By what metric? Remaster is constant 60fps 720p, vs 60fps 480i in the precursor legacy on PS2, and it looks miles better. IIRC the framerate on PS2 had dips too, but it's been a while since I played the original releases.
