Even if they were turned sideways, the power bricks are too fat to just cover a single outlet.

If you get a power supply with enough amperage, you can do a three way pigtail and come next appropriate plug adapters / polarity inverters and you'll be set.

You can also get a preconfigured set for basically nothing:

The Sega CD should have just been able to power the Genesis. I guess it's just Sega screwing over the consumer to save 0.02$ on each console.

One in the bottom outlet. Two in the power strip. Plug the power strip into the top outlet. Was that so hard?

And before anyone starts crying "WHAT ABOUT THE TEEVEE?!" there's enough room left in the power strip for that too, if you're not a retard about it.

It (being 3 separate things lmao) didn't. You probably don't know where yours is because you never had one.
I know a CD addon for another system came with a brown cable that supplied power from the addon to the console. It didn't look like your pic. But you've got a bad case of bidenbrain so you might be thinking of that and just remembering wrong.

There are many reasons but what it boils down to is the wall wart was, by far, the cheapest design, in particular when including certification.

All the reasons literally nothing else ever used that PSU whereas countless devices use interchangeable PSUs with barrel connectors and 1/8" TS before that.

I don't care where you put the PSU as long as it's not in the plug itself. There are many options but only one is a hassle for plugging the bastard in.

What trio power supplies are anons using? I was looking into it pre-rona, but lost track and it seems like the market has gained a few producers.

>> No.8434029

They wanted to sell a genesis+32x hybrid console (Neptune), partially because of this issue and partially because the 32x was a bitch to get working - it wasn't even compatible with some units and required fixes described in the service manuals. A combined console would've helped consumer penetration too.
But the 32x was dropped before they could go that route.

Why would you want to plug in all 3 at the same time anyway? There were no games worth a damn that used both 32x and CD.

>> No.8434232

>>8433692
I'm not saying wall warts are the most convenient for the end user. I'm saying the realities of producing and selling consumer electronics make them the best choice, especially for low power single voltage PSUs. You can cry about it all you want but UL et al aren't going to change the rules for you.

This. I recently had a switch go bad in one of my old power strips. Because it's a high quality build and modular design it was easier to replace the switch than get a new one. Now I'll be stuck with the ugly thing for another 30 years. What were they thinking!
