Obscure retro game secrets, no matter how mundane.

In Crash Bandicoot 2, there's a secret area in the Bonus Round of the level Crash Crush. Usually in a Bonus if you drop off the edge, you fall and die. If you drop off the edge at the start of this specific Bonus, however, there's a hidden platform with some extra wumpa fruit and a life.
It was kept in the remakes, but I hardly ever see it mentioned and this is the only video I know of that shows it.

Normally you can't slide down a slope with that suit, unless you grab it when you're already sliding. The curious thing is that it has an actual sprite for that.

In Super Mario 64, you can actually featherfall with the winged cap just like the cape in SMW. Most people never tried this because they immediately triple jump or cannon with the power up, but it's especially useful in Shifting Sand Land when paired with the Surfing Shell.

You can get inside the Sharaku's pyramid in Astro Boy: Omega Factor and find an enemy from Treasure's Nintendo 64 game Mischief Makers. If you'll keep punching it, it will drop HP hearts.

Super obscure retro fact: It's not actually a Mischief Makers reference but a character called Ebiinu-Kun by the background artist Zoruge Ichizo that later also got a manga.

In the Xbox version of Metal Slug 3, the mission 1 music is a slightly altered, better sounding version then in any other release of the game. (That im aware of)

I noticed it cause the xbox version was first one i played and i played a shit ton of it. When i first played it in the anthology release and later reconfirmed when i got an mvs cart, the music sounded different then what i remembered.

I post this one often but it just always amazes me when the topic of secrets comes out.

In Pulseman, one of the few games made by GameFreak before they went on to make Pokemon, there was a hidden cipher in the game's intro that wasn't found for over 20 years. It's not huge but it does tie into the game's plot and the events that took place before the game happens. Here's a translated version of the original video on niconico that posted about it.

in one of the factory levels(dont remember which one), you'll walk through an area with two rising/lowering pistons behind the fence. You can butt bounce over the fence and land on both of them, even though they serve no purpose in the level

The fact that you could literally catch mew with a quick glitch in Pokemon red/blue.

Like, the one that actually worked. In Cerulean. I obviously never knew way back when, but went back once I found out and caught my own. I have no idea where that cartridge went, luckily I was smart enough to grab a copy of every generation before they went up to 200$ a pop but I wish I had my OG.

In the PC version of RE1, and only in the PC version, there is an extra beretta clip hidden in the back of the Tyrant lab room.

Yawn's 2nd encounter and the Tyrant are the only bosses in the game which aren't given a freebie (you HAVE to fight them, no other choice). This could have been added because of that. Or it's a hint that the Tyrant is actually weak to the Beretta as it only takes 12-18 shots to kill it with it (depending on the difficulty)

In Pikmin 2, every 30 days starting at day 31 (mind you, this game can be beaten way, way before that point) two groups of these bugs will show up in the Wistful Wild, and killing them will give you a ton of potions.
