I remember a friend back in 1994 telling me about this amazing computer they saw that ran Strider and Street Fighter II even better than the snes and genesis. I thought he was full of shit but his mom came in and started talking about it too like they were going to buy one.
I wonder if it might have been one of these they encountered somehow.

Also 10 times more expensive than any of them.

>>8427763
Who the fuck would buy a $3000 (1987 currency) computer only to play arcade conversions when you could play the real thing for a few quarters at the arcades?
>12 fps
Even the full 3D game, No Second Prize, runs at 15-20 fps with dips down to 10 but never seem to reach single digit. Framerate is only a problem with godawful arcade conversions. The Amiga has plenty of computer games to choose from, with a much bigger RPG and strategy library than X68000.
>pick between sound effects or music is pretty fun too
That's more of a C64 thing. Amiga has one extra channel, though some programmers are lazy.

Even if you wouldn't buy the Amiga, you could buy the snes or genesis instead. $3000 would get you a sega genesis with $2800 worth of games, which would be around 80-90.

not trying to gatekeep but if you dont have prior experience old computer protocols and DOS, youre better off emulating. owning those computers is not plug and play. you gotta worry about obscure expansions and cables that only sell once in a blue moon on auctions.

I got to run around one of the Disney offices as a little kid. They had an entire room full of those that felt like a play room because of how colorful and round they were. I was too young to really get it but it kind of just felt like the ball pit room with all that round purple stuff everywhere.
Ran around the room for hours while my moms friend worked.

By the late 80s VGA was around and you could get a decent sound card, which pretty much negated any benefit the Amiga had.

>> No.8428252

>>8428225
Not until the 90s the PC could handle samples like amiga could, and more importantly amiga did everything for a fraction of PC's price. It took many more years until the 386 became cheap enough to give a decent gaming experience. PC manufacturers didn't give a damn about gaming until well into the late 90s, much less affordable gaming.
