That's really a meaningless distinction. An SNES 1-chip is a lot like an official clone. It's very different from the original model. Is it "emulating" an SNES though? Clearly that's not what people mean when they talk emulation. They distinctly mean software emulators, not hardware implementations like NOACs or FPGAs.

>> No.8421032

All retail SNES units are just emulation boxes for development units.

OP samefagging, and no, nobody but you pronounces it letter by letter, so it's not 'an SNES'.
And yes, your little Chinese shit from the other thread is emulation, and it's a ripoff being hyped up to sell before any normal person gets their hands on it and sees how shit it is.

Some games do have differences, there are lists out there. Generally speaking most are slight upgrades, but a few are downgrades because they utilized technology specific to the original that's absent in the Junior.

>> No.8421305

>>8421221
It was missing the expansion port and some AV stuff. It had one combined video chip instead of two (some phat SNESes had that configuration too). Almost no one would notice any difference in gameplay, although some differences did exist. But no one in their right mind would say it was an emulator unless they were doubling down on some retarded argument or deliberately taking the piss.

Let's not kid ourselves, /vr/ is all about doubling down on retarded arguments.

It's not the original hardware, trying to perform the same tasks, then what is it?

>> No.8421772

>>8421379
>It's not the original hardware
What would you classify as original hardware?

>> No.8422138

No, you're a retard. You can say it has a different hardware config, and this may cause slight differences in the AV output, just like the Genesis consoles can have different AV qualities based on the hardware revision. But if it is running the games through it's native hardware, it's not an emulator (and yes, FPGAs are emulators), it's either a clone or official hardware. It's made by the company that originally designed it, during the original lifespan of the console, so it would be official hardware.

>> No.8422167

It is the original hardware. It's just a different hardware revision.

No, It's just all 3 chips in one package like the Xbox 360s being all the chips in one package.
That's what happens when lithography changes during the life of a console.

By that logic, every model of the Genesis outside the original "HD Graphics" version is a clone. They used different chips throughout many, many revisions. And the difference in audio/video output is much more pronounced than the 2 vs 1 chip. So by that logic, is >90% of all Sega Genesis clones? I know you're braindead, but guess what, technology advances, and manufacturing techniques improve. What takes two chips one day may be combined into a single chip the next.

In my part of the world SNES was a playground insult dealt out by chad Mega Drive owners. It was Super Nintendo or S N E S to those who had one.
