If dozens of video reviews for a single "retro" product are uploaded by various channels in the very same minute, does it mean it was a review embargo, or that all of these e-celeb reviews are paid and therefore, completely worthless?

It makes sense to review something that just came out. But yes, there is sure to be conflict of interests with the reviewer, though that has always been the case, even with video game magazines in the 90's.

You need critical thinking but like everything in life. Even the most upright journalist that only wants to tell facts will be biaised to some extent. You need to understand this if you don't want to be a dumb sheep.

You're being way too optimistic, all these are completely 'bought' reviews and you can tell just by the video titles. If there's an embargo they'll still wait for the peak usage hours in their target market, not just dump it at a random time all at the same time. The even sadder fact is that nowadays all the reviewers and 'journalists' are such marks that the company doesn't even have to pay them, just sending the free product to them is enough because they feel special, and also if they say anything too negative they are worried they'll be cut off and lose their connection 'to the industry'. They'll all be 'This is one of, if not the best devices ever (mention superficial flaw just to try and make it seem like they're being impartial) and if you're a fan of retro gayming, this is a must in your collection' or some shit like that.

It's cool you're happy with it, I've nothing against the original hardware at all. I'm just a very particular person

Like I said I've tried a lot of different options and in fact have both an SP with an AGS-101 screen, and an SP with one of those v2 IPS mods. The AGS 101 screen has too much motion blur, and while the IPS mod screen has far less blue, it has weird image retention issues when it comes to fast scrolling or flickering sprites that's super annoying when playing games like Sonic Advance. The mlig video goes into this issue directly, and mention the pocket doesn't exhibit the same problem

Also that GB sound is currently a miniscule amount off-pitch, which is strange because timing-wise it seems to be rock solid head-to-head with a real GB

People are legally required to disclose if it’s a sponsored video. If they don’t say it’s sponsored, then it’s likely is their actual opinion and not shilling. Most people will let you know if they received one for free as well, but I don’t think that’s legally obligated.

It looks like everything I'd want out of a device like this except for the portrait layout. But seriously, every fucking emulation device should come with a 1440p, vrr screen. That's what's selling the pocket for me

I’d recommend reflashing with 351elec or arkos
Although if you mainly plan on playing console games you should’ve got the square screen one

NOOOOOO you're not allowed to talk about it positively here, only detractors who big up the Anbernic RG351V with a shitty 640x480 TFT screen are allowed to be in this thread

Fucking KEK, did they really? Just when I thought emulation machines couldn't get any worse than chinese knock offs. Makes my day if its true.

There’s nothing wrong with either
And 480 is native resolution for a lot of consoles, so what’s the problem?

>> No.8417367

>>8417356
not high enough resolution for decent interpolation, which you'll want for NES and SNES games if you prefer 4:3. Also enough res for accurate DMG and color LCD shaders

>> No.8417370

You don’t need interpolation when it’s integer scale you dip

I think the poorfag cope in this thread is hilarious. I don’t plan on ever owning an anal log product, but I can see the value proposition of it. The lot of you who are seething about $200 is so funny lmao thats not a lot of money. Enjoy your ChinkBoy from AliExpress while the rest of us with jobs buy nice things

So... Does it even play roms? Does it play real 16 bit systems?

>$200 just to play gameboy shovelware
>still need to carry physical cartridges around too

lol. lmao/

>> No.8417473

I believe all analogue devices play ROMs. It'll probably have 16bit cores eventually but no, doesn't launch with them. Also even when it does I doubt the SNES core would support special chip games due to the limited size of the FPGA they're using

Or do you mean you're only going to be playing this portable handheld at home, in the basement you never leave?

I mean yes, I already know I'm not the target audience because I don't have a giant hole in my frontal lobes.

not that anon, but I own several pieces of hardware than can play GB games, roms or carts (GBA, SP, SP with LCD mod, Micro, 3DS, DS Lite) and I still want the pocket. I have several, differing issues with every device listed above that I was hoping the pocket would fix. Which mostly it does

I have all the handhelds. Screens suck dick by modern standards. Have to use AA batteries like I’m still in the stone age. I simply don’t like using them anymore.

To display the games in a 4:3 aspect ratio because that's how I like to view NES and SNES games
