The updated version that doesn't do that has a USA-1 at the end as you can see with the one on the lower right. Back then you had to send in to THQ for the patch, now the patches for the game can be more easily downloaded.

i wish the wwe games would go back to arcade gameplay like this one, but i'm not sure the audience of the current games will think of buying it if they tried it, will probably make them lose money
the games started getting more and more automated as time went on, in this game you needed to do some of the signature moves yourself, to perform people's elbow you actually had to go near your opponent's head and perform the taunt, hold the run button to bounce of the ropes and jump on your opponent, then press attack at the right time
in the ps1 and 2 era you just pressed a button, but it was ok cause the game was still arcade
then they started putting barriers on edges, preventing you from falling off even if you tried it, then removed multiple finishers, then it basically turned into a full sim

I like No Mercy adding a bit more that VPW2 but VPW2 feels so much better and I want to actually play as the guys instead of making my own CAW like in No Mercy because everyone in that game had shit moves
