What are some good NES clone consoles that don't cost an arm? All I want is NTSC support and an analog output. Is picrel any good?

>>8394319
NES on a chip are never good. You're better off making a pi or using a Wii/U if you are on a budget.
The cheapest clone worth a shit is the RetroUSB AVS

I own this one and I don't use it, the sound isn't right and the image isn't great. If you're going to get a clone, I recommend pic related, good sound and so far it's held up to a year of use.

Dont be retarded. Just buy a AV Famicom. Real hardware, NTSC, best video quality before mods, cheap as fuck jap games if you want carts, can get an adapter if you want to play US games. Also they are cheap as fuck, so you really have no excuse.

I already have one but being a europoor frog image quality is some disgusting RF to RGB conversion and the games run at 50hz which feels very wrong. The best option would be to import a console from the US but looking at ebay it would cost way over 200€.

the moron can't even skim over a little bit of wikipedia to find out that the cheapest would be an AV Famicom (because the normal Famicom is RF only and IT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE because the PAL consoles have normal composite video out so why the fuck is he talking about RF??) which is like 20-30 USD plus shipping at a Japanese auction site

For the average joe, nothing. There are good clones that can be had cheap but you'll never find one.

none

real NES/Fami off ebay, raspi, or mister.
>Is picrel any good?
no

all of those shitty chink clones have issues with speed, colors, sound, compatibility, and usually have tight as fuck pins which destroy your cartridges over time.

if you're a casual player you probably wont notice the issues at first, and you wont find any issues with games working or not, like >>8395454, because i doubt you or him own anything other than basic common games. but for a lot of the unique mappers these consoles have problems.
one day you'll be playing something, and you watch a video of it, or you'll have some other method of playing it on your tv (switch online, wii, your own console you said you already have, etc) and then suddenly you'll realize "hey this looks a little strange right here, let me compare it" and then the illusion will be shattered. And every time you turn it on you'll be unable to not notice how terribly off it is.

you'd be better off with a dendy.

Get an AV famicom, or an AV modded Famicom

That's not how you spell project.
I can't really blame you for assuming everyone on /vr/ is a retarded zoom zoom but in this case you're dead wrong. I collect famiclones and know exactly what problems they have and how to test them. I also have a buttload of famicoms to compare stuff side by side if needed.
>you'd be better off with a dendy
I have several and Micro Geniuses that don't have that label slapped on then. Quite a few NIB/CIB.

>>8395670

>>8395690
>I've seen
I don't doubt it. There's a shitload of literal shit out there. I don't imagine you've seen hundreds of famiclones and have a few dozen of the best/worst/weirdest in your collection. That's exactly why I said the average Joe won't find a good noac clone.

>> No.8396264

im retarded when it comes to PAL stuff. Would one of these let you play Euro NES games on a US tv at the proper speed the game is suppose to run at/without all the glitches some games like Elite have on non-pal systems?

I have 2 pal games and i can only run them on a US top loader and obviously its not the ideal way to play them because of the hardware differences effecting them.

Thats pretty neat. I may have to look into getting one of those myself now. Always thought id have to fuck around with some switch box shenanigans or get an actual european TV and console to play them at the correct speed on original hardware.

Makko made a knockoff of the power/video module used in the HK famicom. It might be harder to find a system with one of these as it's not well known. Which is why you might be able to get it a lot cheaper. Collectors discovered HK versions a while ago and prices have increased accordingly.

Go on eBay and search "NES Untested" or "NES for parts". It's the easiest system to repair.
