Why am I retard just because I'm thinking of employing a spreadsheet to manage my different memory cards?

Autistic and unnecessary thing to do. I'm gonna tell you what your father should have: get a life, get a real hobby, go outside, and have sex. In that order. Nerd.

Based. Make sure to have each cell represent one block so you can see how much space each save file takes.

Well done.
As for your question, OP... Being organized is a good thing. If you're that organized with everything in your life you'll be alot more successful, stress-free and ready to take on new challenges since you have all your shit on lock already.

It's only retarded if you're doing it because you're too retarded to write on labels like the developers originally intended. If there's a legit reason you don't want to do that it's not retarded at all. I've seen systems for managing saves that seem ever more retarded at first glance but make sense when you understand why it's done that way.

If my experiences with VHS tapes are any guide, you'll inevitably get lazy and let the contents fall out of sync with the spreadsheets, making things worse. A physical notebook might be marginally better; less dependency on a particular device or service, and less potential to be distracted by other things happening on the device.

PS2 support when?
>>8372919
yeah but some games take up 45kb, some take up 1,457kb.

well
it does support ps1 saves on a ps2 i think, but the not vice versa

Yes, with magicgate being cracked now I'd love to see that problem solved.

>> No.8373017

>>8372919
Yes the PS2 saves weren't measured in blocks so it would only work for the PS1 games.

I wonder if the block size really was 1kb though, or if the PS2 cards used bigger blocks behind the scenes? Even if it was bigger it was probably small relative to the size of the save files, making it simpler to just display the size in kilobytes.

They came with labels for this purpose you dip-shit. The way I do it, is just use a memory card for each publisher or genre. So one labeled just for Capcom stuff or one for just all RPGs. Really though the way I do it is just have one all-purpose card for the game im currently playing, then when I 100% or plan to come back to it at a later point, I transfer the save over to one of the above labeled cards. Its nice being able to go back and look up the games ive completed.

I've got my Dreamcast saves sorted by theme and colour.
Blue is for adventure, like Shenmue or Skies of Arcadia.
Red is for horror, like Resident Evil 2/3/CV and The House of the Dead.
Yellow is for racing.
Green is for games that I associate with the colour green, like Sega fishing games or Phantasy Star Online.
Pink is for fighting.
Aqua blue is puzzle.
Black is for sports.
Seaman VMU is for Seaman.

Has this HAPPENED to you?

These are unreliable, though. My Sonic Adventure JP save got corrupted on one of these (and I seem to remember these being problematic back in the day as well - I had one as a kid, although I can't remember if anything ever corrupted on it).

My original VMU from my old Dreamcast is still working, though, as is my original 4x unit.
