What do you think of retro game posters? Do you have any? How do you display them?

I only have posters of slooots

I have a few, like a Japanese The House of the Dead arcade poster, a Street Fighter EX2 arcade poster that I got for free from a Japanese arcade PCB seller, and a Japanese Chun-Li SF3 DC poster. I have others that came packed with games, like the OP's Doom poster from the Windows release of UD. The coolest ones are promo posters that were meant for store or arcade display, since they have some history to them and weren't readily available to regular customers.

Posters are acceptable if they are in a frame if you are below 25yr in the area you game. If you are above 25, take it down and store them for the memories unless you have given up on getting a women entirely.

Reddit tier response, although I thought redditors love consoomerism?

I have the full sized, iD signed version of that poster.I also have a Club Nintendo double sided poster, and a massive Andrew W.K. poster, both of which are still in their tubes because I've owned them for years and years but keep forgetting to buy frames to put them up with.

>What do you think of retro game posters?
I don't have any thoughts about them
>Do you have any?
No
Frankly I never really understood the idea behind posters in general

I like game posters in general. I have 2 Metroid Dread and 1 Zelda poster(master sword sitting in the forest, looks really nice) from My Nintendo hanging in my bedroom along with a Kiki Kaikai arcade flyer tin sign. In my living room I have 2 arcade style posters of Dig Dug and Donkey Kong that I designed using official artwork as a base since the official flyers for those (that I could find) were low res and looked kinda shitty anyway.

Living room. These ones are a lot smaller. Saying I "designed" them is a huge stretch but basically I made these because it was more inline with what I wanted.

Along this wall I used to have a bunch of smaller arcade posters for stuff like Arkanoid and Super Gem Fighter but it looked tacky so I replaced it with the bigger posters.

Nah, maybe the Mario was too much for me...I asked cause I thought you were 40, what's a 25 year old doing as a fan of donkey kong?

Idk, it's just a fun game. Most of my favorite games were released long before I was born.

I like the documentary and I think that got me into donkey kong. I played dig dug with my dad when I was a kid.

What's the best option for cheap poster frames? I have a few I would like to hang up, but I'm a cheap bastard when it comes to anything outside of the games themselves.

Old school beer sloots posters from the 80s and 90s in my garage. Budweiser, Coors, the list goes on

Bad idea if you're over the age of 18. I wouldn't want to hang them up even if I got life in prison and were in a cell.

I have the SNES Secret of Mana poster, the one that came with the game and the reverse side of it is a map.

The idea is that they're marketing promotional material. Top of mind awareness leads to more sales even if it's hard to track and measure. Quite an expensive marketing strategy until recent times when you could convince your customers to pay for the privilege of owning your ads and posting them everywhere. Now we have entire generations of adults that never grow up and compulsively consoom like addicts.

I think they a great commercialized artwork but sometimes I want more, like a print of the artwork. I have a few from back then, but I wish I could afford a place such that I could display them. For now they are all rolled up and put away so I can stay agile to move from place to place. Until rent or housing becomes affordable, it is not practical to display them.

It sucks.
