- great toned down graphic improvements that do not ruin the original game feel
- no need to open notepad.exe
- easy mp on the go
fyi - i'm so old, i've finished the original one on keyboard only before mouse movement became a thing - the new release seems convenient and ready to go
i hate the "connecting to bethesda" stuff though - is this the only very and very legit and big complaint?

Poor mod support pretty much.

If you only care about playing the base campaigns + the new one they added then it's fine.

But it can't even play Arcane Dimensions which is the best fan campaign and peak Quake.

>> No.8365540

quake was never good I think that's the problem.
it has 50% of the atmosphere of Doom and goldeneye n64 was more fun at the time

>> No.8365595

All that matters to me is that I can play Quake on Switch now. I have my Q1-4 physical copies if I want to play them on PC like I did years back.

In terms of atmosphere nothing beat Quake1 imho.

>> No.8365725

Nothing is wrong with it. I started playing it, and couldn't put it down until I beat the entire game, plus the two expansions. I hadn't played the expansion packs before, just the main campaign.

inaccurate physics (this matters in a game loved for its movement)
weird bugs
doesn't untie the gameplay to the framerate like quakespasm-spiked/vkquake
the fact that it runs on the bloated KEX engine, instead of just using one of the many far superior community source ports
oh, and when i played it, i got these wonderful oddities:

oh, i forgot to mention: it ran like dog shit. on vk quake i get 144 hz on modern mods. on this "remaster" with the base game, my gpu fans were spinning up to max to get just above 60. what the fuck?

You dumb fucking newfag. Even Wolfenstein had mouselook. They've always had mouselook. Fuck you, the Quake rerelease is ass, just like every other Bethesda rerelease.

You just said what's wrong with it.

new = bad
old = good
but also new remaster of old = bad

>> No.8366315

>>8366292
that could be a viewpoint of an outside observation considering a game is bad simply because it was remade. Unfortunately, when something is played, painstaking attempts made to reproduce certain things by dedicated fans with decades worth of content, that stupid fucking interpretation is quickly dismissed for ignorance or intentional falsehood.

this, it's pretty amazing for the price on switch

>> No.8366393

It can play mods. I play copper and other things on it. I didn't pay for it though, sucks if you did. I own quake on cd from 98, so I'm not buying shit

lol, Quake/OG Team Fortress multiplayer was a phenomenon. So much for a game that was never good.

Closed source proprietary garbage. Sticking with foss ports.

>goldeneye better than quake
nigga I played goldeneye with the two n64 controller config they let you use. Fuck that shit. Quake was a better game that controlled a lot better. Shit man even the 64 port of quake was better than goldeneye, so much so they made the 64 port an addon, shitty mipmapping filter lighting engine and all.

I bet you played unreal tournament alone at lan parties while all your friends were having fun with q3a.

>fyi - i'm so old, i've finished the original one on keyboard only before mouse movement became a thing
But that was a thing since before Doom's release...

Nightdive's re-release (not remake, don't be so mean) is alright: could've been better in some places, but is a decent option for simple/noob-friendly first-time experience like "Unity ports" for DOOM games. Even then, you're still better off using prefered source port if you're not a really lazy piece of shit.

I don't know about AD being the peak Quake, but the fact it doesn't support mods from the get-go is a hard pass for me.

>> No.8367340

I see that Alf is evading his rangeban, and all of this were fixed thanks to /doom/ and celephais a while ago.

AD feels a bit too busy for me, like I know you're trying to show what modern Q1 engine implementations can do but it feels like they're trying too hard
