I feel like I'm the only person who played Ultima Online.
Someone please tell me they remember this glorious MMORPG from the days of Dial-up.

>> No.835371

Actually.....
I still play, and my account has been open for over 15 years.
Great Lakes shard for life <3

I had no idea it was still alive.
Is the main city still a laggy piece of shit that fucks up fps and makes you wish you were never born?

>> No.836935

I see it getting mentioned all the fucking time so you're not alone. All the stories are making me wish I was there to play it back at it's prime.

I remember when the carebears killed MMOs forever, truly a sad day

I played on a free pirate shard. It was anarchy, but it was brilliant. A friend of mine went and became a green elf through some shitty quest, so I banded with some pirates, robbed and murdered him for being a hipster.

>> No.837215

Do any of you guys still play? On what shards?

>> No.837257

How much is the monthly fee now? I used to play it but right now I can't afford costly fees.

Huh

>> No.837260

I remember playing this heap of shit for a couple of weeks.
Lost my first character because some cocksucker placed a portal in a doorway that sent me to some remote island where I couldn't find my way out of.

Same thing happened to me. Wandered for a bit till I encountered a fine gentleman who portaled to a safe haven.

>> No.837749

I played the shit out of this. When private shards were a thing, me and my d&d friends would play on a lan, running rpg adventures on a private offline shard. Was good times to be a roleplayer - neverwinter nights ended up replacing that little system

babbys that couldn't handle how REAL Ultima Online was complained until they split the world into 2, every MMO since then has been a hand holding babbyland

So you mean playing like the worst backstabbing assholes possible?

Truly it sounds a glorious time.

>Those text colors

I've never played, but I'd imagine it must be unbearable with how much that text blends into the environment.

I know its history but I never played it becaue I hate MMORPGs. I actually thought that /vr/ hated MMORPGs as a general rule.

To be fair, while sometimes hilarious shit was stupid broke, with instakill arrows that homed you for an hour while you outran them to getting raided by 5 reds right outside of town. To some people who killed off fucking town guards or set dragons loose at Britain bank. It's kind of understandable.
Dat stupid shit PK'ing. Makes me just want to find a redguards home and fly an eagle over his door. Or recall stone trap that shit.

I've been trying to get back to the official shard for AGES. My account is really old and I'm sure it still exists, however, the fucking account system sucks immense balls now.

Origin account? Mythic account? Why the fuck can't I just get my account back?

Maybe one day I'll find the patience to endure that violent mirroring between EA and Mythic pages.

Why not try free shards like Second Age. I played that one for a few months about a year ago. It was pretty good.

>> No.842092

Thanks for the heads up. Is it heavily modified? Don't take me for capitan autismo but I hate when level up rates are boosted and there are fucking dragons sitting on top of Britain's houses.

I tried a free shard once and it was like this.

It's designed to be exactly like the official game was during that time period. It's so true to the era that it even includes some of the bugs, though they aren't that noticeable.

UO is the one MMORPG that wasn't a pile of utter shit. In fact, it was awesome - because it rewarded player ingenuity as opposed to number crunching.
