This level forever sealed my love for odd metaphysical places in video games.

I really liked that weird level. The statue enemies are kino.

End of TR2 was a real pain in the ass but I rushed through it and made it harder than it should have been.

short but annoying if u dont know what the fuck to do, i love it though cuz the dual uzi makes the boss laughably easy even in lvl8, which makes the route worth practicing

Awesome experimental level they had there. Was my favorite of Tomb Raider II, tied with Barkhang Monastery. That reminds me I still have to play TR3 and TR4 whenever I find some time for them.

Those isometric levels in ewj2. Filtered me to the point of not beating it.

I beat this game and had a lot of fun with it. Why is bathhouse hated? Is that spot impossible to pass without alterting guards?

they look awesome but are the glitchiest fucking levels in the game. I love all hitman games, but goddamn going back to 2 and contracts broken detection AI is fucking awful.

I heard from a previous Tomb Raider thread a while back that the level designer was inspired by that one mountain region in China which was used for a skybox in Doom as well as the (not retro) Yinshi Valley in Ace Combat 7. Something about the mountain tops being covered in a bright jade-colored grass and often being surrounded by such thick fog helps give the illusion of mystical floating islands.

How do you make this kind of ambience? I'm looking at the spectrogram, and it looks like everything below 700Hz is reflected above.

Many ways, easiest is to take a a soundsource, either low-fi or make it lo-fi yourself, turn up a shitload of reverb, even easier if the reverb has a freeze option so it keeps ringing, then use EQ or filters to get the sound you want, and add effects and things such as reversing the audio then running it through the reverb, etc... I use stuff like software that simulates vinyl or tape sounds, or even synth noise, then turn the noise option up and just record the noise then put effects on it. There are also tons of custom made sample packs or virtual instruments that make these sounds for you, especially 'pad' instruments.

the air canon sucked, the factory was a slug, the pedestal space jumping was one of the highlights of the game.

Is it weird I never hated Xen? It's bit too long your first time, but then it's a breeze. I thought the lead up to the teleportation through lambda core was more of a pain.
