I want to play/emulate light gun games with my LCD screen; but google only talks about the sinden lightgun, which is not available in my third world country (and it's also very expensive).

Is there a ghetto alternative for this?

This + a PS2 softmod and a Yobo lightgun, or there are wiimote-to-mouse programs, but I always found them a little shitty to use in practice. DirectInput and RawInput issues and such. That and you can see the cursor, can't sight-aim. Barely better than mouse aiming.
Those are your options.

>> No.8337835

>>8337816
Because second generation light guns used a trick involving the way CRT TVs refreshed to triangulate where you were aiming when you pulled the trigger. The glass doesn't matter.

For what it's worth, arcades abandoned this method very early on in favor of IR-style light guns, like the Wii, Sinden, or Gun4IR-style light guns, because they work a lot better anyway.

>> No.8337842

why would glass to anything?
it has to do with the emissive light going into the gun to triangulate the location and the analog nature of CRT's allow it to refresh quick enough to effectively respond

My dude, just pick up a CRT monitor, they're still free if you know where to look. As a bonus, you won't have pillar bars, and you'll notice a better response time due to the lower latency. If you ever get tired of having it in your room, you can always flip it back on the market for profit.

The Wiimote is horribly inaccurate and even native light gun games don't feel great, certainly wouldn't recommend using one with emulators on PC.

OP, get a 27"+ CRT, a PS1 and a PS2 and both GunCon models. That's like 95% of console light gun games right there. Outside of that, Dreamcast has two games that are also worth playing if you want to invest the money and Xbox has HOTD3 + the only home port of Silent Scope with gun support.

The Wiimote itself isn't the problem. It's the fact that the Wii sensor bar only has one point of data to calculate the position with. It works fine with multiple sensor bars. (hell, a lot of people just take the IR camera out to build a Gun4IR with)

Those are kinda interesting! They were basically a prop gun attached to a flighttick that actually moved the cursor on the screen. Soem did not display a cursor and you had to aim.
The neat thing is that the actual screen you seldom saw because it was deep down in the guts of the machine and was reflected on a mirror which you actually shot at.
The monitor is like three feet down, facing upward into the mirror. The reason they do this is so you are shooting at targets a good distance away without having to build a huge cabinet that sticks out four feet. It's an illusion!

>Arcade is just a standard lightgun shooter, with little screens on each gun that simulate shooting a actual laser, it's a pretty neat effect

The arcade game is a side scrolling light gun game. It has some fake 3D sections, that try to simulate scrolling with animation. It makes me wonder if the game was meant to be Ghostbusters themed arcade game? Sega did have the Ghostbusters license for their home consoles. Laser Ghost was a generic Sega knockoff.
