This stage as a whole is just hard as fuck.
The whole thing is a gauntlet of all the "gimmick" type areas. You've got flying Fleamen, the vertical staircase section, the falling tower bit, this shit, and then the medusa heads.

I got through this water section with Trevor only, but the annoyance of having to do so over and over again is why I used Sypha to tackle the doppleganger fight. Had zero patience for learning his pattern if it meant having to get through this section again a half dozen or more times.

OP here. I had done it with Sypha before, but I finally got lucky with Ralph. Got the level 3 axe and somehow managed to kill the doppelganger with it with 2ish health bars remaining. Never doing it again.

Good to see someone post the actual hardest section of the game rather than the block falling bit. The clone boss is honestly the only part of the game I actively dislike because it makes solo-charcter runs fucking cancerous. Good luck beating that asshole with Alucard.
