do any of you contend with post game sadness? when i replay a game i have nostalgia for i feel really joyful and i try and do all the additional and optional content but eventually the game ends and i just feel a tad empty

>> No.8298465

Yeah, it's a good thing.

>> No.8298467

not really.
I have to content with playing a game so many times that I no longer enjoy it, though.

>> No.8298478

I don't know if I've ever felt "empty" after finishing a good game, but there have been times when I've finished games so good, they kinda ruin all games of lesser quality, making them feel shallow, stupid, or artless, and this feeling can last for a week

>> No.8298491

>>8298457
felt that way after finishing metroid dread, im saving hard mode for later so it can feel new again

I beat super ghouls n ghosts 50 times and still like it
No idea Wtf you're talking about
If you like it just replay it
If you don't like it then move on and play something else

>> No.8298510

>>8298502
>Wtf you're talking about
This is obvious, no drag your verbal diarrhea into this thread if you can't comprehend a concept as simple as "I have nothing left to do in my favorite game, I'm sad".

>> No.8298513

>>8298457
If I really like it, yes.
Otherwise I rarely finish games in the first place.

>> No.8298517

I have more of a mid-game sadness, where I like a game, I want to want to finish it, but I also really want to play some other game, and I either end up abandoning the first game, or forcing myself to finish it in a way where I don't enjoy it as much as I might have. Is this ADD?

>> No.8298521

yeah but it only happens in immersive adventure games

not gonna happen with action games like that ghost'n'goblins the other anon mentionned

>> No.8298524

>>8298517
I have legit diagnosed adhd and I do that all the time. I can't even force myself to finish. Though sometimes I come back to unfinished games much later and finish them. My usual attention span is 4-5 days at most.

100% adhd, i do this all the time
for the last couple years though i've been working really hard on my focus and improving my executive function and its gotten a lot better
itll be even better when i can finally convince a doctor to prescribe me ritalin again

>> No.8298606

I don't beat games. I don't want the experience to end. I prefer to always have in my mind the mystery of where the world goes, to see the ending of OoT would make me kill myself.

>> No.8298651

>>8298606
Willingly keeping the world and characters in stasis sounds so much worse. Even if the story is over I'm just glad that the characters I love can finally have their happy ending (or not) in my mind.

I felt this way in Persona 4. All those memories made, all those friends, my girlfriend Yukiko. I'll never get to see them again. Never have new adventures. Never hear her tell me she loves me again.

It hurts, bros.

I assume he thinks once you collect all the rupees and gear there's no point to replay a zelda, or something like that. But I know people who are fans will do 3 heart runs or speedrun and other sorts of challenges.

>once you beat P4 you aren't allowed to replay ever again or try anything different in it
lol are you depressed or just trolling?

>>8298457
beating a good game should make you feel satisfied, fulfilled, thrilled even, and excited to try it again in a new way not depressed

replaying P4 is invalid. I already made those memories and they all exist in my heart. I cant just do it again for the first time.

I think you people just want your childhood back and are said that attempts to do that are fleeting. Grow the fuck up, get a therapist, take pills, do whatever it takes to fix your psychosis.

Mentally stable people do not feel sad from finishing a game they like. They feel enjoyment and then move onto the next game.

it depends on the game. There are some games that I love but always feel shitty when I finish them purely because I want more. While not retro I feel this way about Max Payne 3.

i'm not convinced that a large swathe of people are "ill" because they feel a certain way when experiencing a game or movie or television show, i know there's substance there to discuss even if you cannot put your finger on it, we can at least tangentially discuss the feeling or vibe
