Daggerfall with some modern bugfixes is a great experience. DaggerfallSetup is the best way to experience the game and I very rarely say that about unofficially modified games. The only way Daggerfall can be considered bad in my eyes is if you play an unpatched version, which did have a lot of bugs. Or if you don't read the manual, which can easily be found online.

Nah. Even with bugfixed or daggerfall unity the game is still half-baked at the end of the day. All the mods might add fun little things but they never solve the game's core issues. Most of the mechanics/skills have no real purpose besides maybe 1 niche gimmick you can find. It has a lot of funny exploits like taking a loan out then skipping town but those alone don't make a game fun. The dungeons sometimes (rarely) get great but it's the only glimpse into what the devs vision was suppose to be.

My main gripe with Daggerfall is how flat towns and buildings are. It's like the entire place is made of cardboard and paper. I wish modders would redo the houses and buildings to have more 3d depth to them instead of being a rectangular cube. Like pic related. And towns to be less flat. At least some variation in ground level, a perfectly flat town is weird. I get the tech limitations but now I hope some modders work on it, they already made the world terrain more varied.

I've never seen a house look like your pic, and I live in Eastern Canada. Most dark, wood-panel houses in rural area are flat and simplistic in design, which is something Daggerfall gets right imo. Maybe that bulbous architecture is a British thing, I don't know.
