It's the same principle as installing modular kitchen cabinets. Rarely will the opening accommodate the units sold and filler strips are used to prevent gaps. Of course the filler strips are cut from the same material & finish as the cabinets ordered.
That anon should have cut his bottom strips tp the top of the bottom shelf as opposed to trying to align with the neighboring shelves, filled the pocket holes, and painted them flat black to match everything. It would make their presence less jarring.

In a case where you can hold the roms on a hdd, that's acceptable. But I doubt that's the case with many of these setups. Also unless you had optical drive emulators, you'd still need to hold disks for the applicable consoles.

Also remade those posters in Adobe Illustrator, one of my favorite is on the otherside of the wall. there are a couple of others throughout the house.

As for the original artist, I dont recall. My brother had found it on the net, and I just redid it in Illustrator so I could make a big print of it. Never uploaded it to the net cause I didnt know who to give credit to at the time, and im sure they wouldnt want me handing out his res images of his work~ heh. The tv is actually sitting on something like that but currently have boxes in the way cause im in a constant state or moving shit around my house. Not so sure myself, honestly. Motion sickness hits me like a truck, especially after my accident, so I've only been able to play PS1 games on the LCD screen (not that I mind). Always loved those small CRT monitors like the iMac G3. Looks like that's 17 inches across, 15 inches diagonally, or so?
Big TVs work for newer consoles somewhat, but I've been enamored with how my motion sickness goes away with a small monitor. Might finally be able to play Metroid Prime for more than 5 minutes.

I use a receiver, it has composite and component video outs which go to my TV, and then I have a 5 way AV switch for my consoles that goes into the receiver. I use that so I can have my VCR and DVD player occupy the other 2 inputs of the receiver, then of course I've got my audio equipment hooked up as well. All the devices talk to each other. They even output to my computer.

Can't decide what to put up. I've thought about ancient Greek/Roman art, Jojo's, DOOM, other anime. Then the other part of me keeps thinking I'll get tired of seeing the same shit every day and one should not care about such things. Same thing applies to furniture.

I don't display all my games. My Genesis, PS2, Switch,and 360 games are on an open bookshelf next to a TV. My Playstation, Saturn, PSP, SNES, and misc games for systems I only own a handful are in a closed bookshelf in the same room. My N64 games are boxed.

Funny you mention that, that pic is a little old. GameCube and PS2 are no longer hooked up as I wanted it to be a little less cluttered with game consoles and in their place are some vhs tapes. Might get an actual authentic audio setup there instead one day so I'll no longer be audiocucked. I also got my hands on an old zenith vcr.
As for the entertainment center I've considered replacing it but I think it'll be more hassle than it's worth. I wouldn't have a place to put the old one and I don't wanna throw it away as it belonged to my late dad so it holds some sentimental value to me.

I did find a Kenwood Hi-fi component system NV-301 (pic) in the scrap at work, but there were no speakers and I have none, as the audio out uses wires. did you already get one or just planning? It really doesn't matter, I don't listen to the radio on my receiver, I actually have another radio I use instead which is stronger and can get shortwave. What you really should look for is the inputs and speakers they support. You're going to want video inputs if this is going to be integrated with your console set up. Hopefully you're using speaker wire too, but if that's a breaker there are some receivers that support more modern cables for speakers. I personally recommend using alligator clips and speaker wire.
