How would you go about designing a stand for your tv and all your game consoles, games, controllers, speakers, etc.? What does your setup look like right now?

It's the same principle as installing modular kitchen cabinets. Rarely will the opening accommodate the units sold and filler strips are used to prevent gaps. Of course the filler strips are cut from the same material & finish as the cabinets ordered.
That anon should have cut his bottom strips tp the top of the bottom shelf as opposed to trying to align with the neighboring shelves, filled the pocket holes, and painted them flat black to match everything. It would make their presence less jarring.

5/10, a nice area but the content is lacking soul too. For example, you have all those plastic cases for games yet they have no unified theme or color, not to mention those storage mediums suffering audio-visual quality degradation each year (even worse if your room isnt a cool, dry place).

Big TVs work for newer consoles somewhat, but I've been enamored with how my motion sickness goes away with a small monitor. Might finally be able to play Metroid Prime for more than 5 minutes.

Has nothing to do with how much I like the console (I never play 360, it isn't even plugged in, its boxed up in my closet).
I'm not trying to impress strangers online, so it is just about having a room that doesn't look autistic and not hoarding. The only crappy games I hold on to are ones I had as a kid. Crappy or even mediocre games for later consoles like PS2 I've long since sold or given away.

Well that'd depend on the size of the room, wouldn't it?. Last time I moved, my computer, AV and vidya shit was about 60 CBM. So how big's your room bucko?
But I think anons point is that only underage faggots and NEETs are limited to having stuff in their room. Myself, I have stuff in the living room, all the bed rooms, the den, even on the patio. Why would anyone not want to be able to play their shit on a 12' projection screen in the back yard?

This is my budget setup. I lost all of my stuff during my homeless period, so I don't have any of my childhood games anymore.
>couch, shelves, drawers, and CRT TV were all salvaged from the apartment dumpster
>NES and SNES were both bought together off an eBay lot with controllers for 20 bucks because they looked filthy
>PS2 was 5 bucks at Savers. Wii and 360 were 10.
>N64 I found sitting on top of the dumpster when taking out trash
>Neogeo MVS was salvaged from the laudromat's machine after they threw it out
The Switch, TV, and Naomi 2 are the only things here I paid a significant amount for (and the TV was dirt cheap on Black Friday).

Funny you mention that, that pic is a little old. GameCube and PS2 are no longer hooked up as I wanted it to be a little less cluttered with game consoles and in their place are some vhs tapes. Might get an actual authentic audio setup there instead one day so I'll no longer be audiocucked. I also got my hands on an old zenith vcr.
As for the entertainment center I've considered replacing it but I think it'll be more hassle than it's worth. I wouldn't have a place to put the old one and I don't wanna throw it away as it belonged to my late dad so it holds some sentimental value to me.

The aesthetics on these things are so good. Problem is all of these things is damn expensive nowadays. Sure, I got a job and plenty of money, but it's not like I NEED it, and would have to get decent speakers on top of it. Some bloke was offering a full Sharp stack 2 weeks ago. did you already get one or just planning? It really doesn't matter, I don't listen to the radio on my receiver, I actually have another radio I use instead which is stronger and can get shortwave. What you really should look for is the inputs and speakers they support. You're going to want video inputs if this is going to be integrated with your console set up. Hopefully you're using speaker wire too, but if that's a breaker there are some receivers that support more modern cables for speakers. I personally recommend using alligator clips and speaker wire.

The big problem with modern TV stands is that they aren't deep or strong enough for CRT TVs. If I was to make a game room now, I think I would use this kitchen countertop from IKEA, letting the front of it rest on top of some kinda cabinet/shelf solution that is no higher than 60-70 cm and then put some legs on the back of the countertop for support. Then you could put some other shelving or cabinets on either side of to mask the gap behind the cabinet/shelf thing.

The TV stand in my living room is actually an old dresser. For some reasons, most dressers are the perfect height for TVs, while most TV standard aren't. It's about 2.5' deep and easily fits a 32" CRT. Being centuries older than ikea, it's solid wood and very sturdy. One of the best features is there's no open space. Everything is in drawers or behind doors. Dust and yellowing from sunlight just aren't a problem.

Also sucks you're trying to get "cinema-like experience" from your gaming CRT. So Downs in addition to Jarcho-Levin, that's gotta suck. I get my cinema like experience from my projectors like a sane person.
But I still don't get your logic. If you live in a shoebox and watch movies and play games on the same 14" LCD wouldn't you be sitting about foot away with it about 3 feet off the ground? Like, you know, pretty much every desk in the world? Or do you sit on the floor, or maybe have no legs in addition to no torso and just stand in front if it like a pair of shoes with arms and a head? >In addition to having downs and no torso I'm also legally blind so have to sit a few inches away from the TV which is not optimal if you want a cinema-like experience according to the industry recommended distances chart
>I also have no legs so sit on the floor making a TV stand the ideal height for me
>But I'm 6'1 because my forehead is over 5 feet tall
I imagine you looking like the bastard spawn of a giraffe and cornholio anon

Love the concept, but hate the soulless post 2000s anime style. Are there any funny Saturn references in anime before they sucked the soul out of it?

this is v similar to the one we had
it had a glass cabinet built in underneath and was twice as tall

my dad bought it before i was born
it ended up getting thrown out of the garage a few years ago

i wish i would have picked it up

so no, im not "remembering it wrong lol"

for fucks sake even the magnavox odyssey came with larger overlays (2 sets) in case you had a bigger set

not everyone uses a 10" pvm like you

Dudelet, you literally lost your shit over a post with a picture that shows a short TV stand with the TV hung on the wall. A setup millions of people with normal body dimensions use. You contrived all sorts of reasons why that commonly used setup is bad including drawing a picture of some imagined setup that violates your own rules.
I'm glad you're comfy sitting your torsoless on the floor. Sucks your hoverchair isn't working.

I know right!
Nice Sony with a built in stand/glass cabinet underneath fucko. But if it helps with the butt pain then keep on coping. Maybe call your mommy and have her tell you how special you are and that you remember everything right and that if you want to spell hamster with a P then that's the right way to spell it. Fucking millennials. ngmi.

>who hurt me
You did it to yourself. When it was gently pointed out that your memory and the year you thought it was from didn't jive you sperged out and went into to full damage control mode. Ironically that only did more damage, resulting in the intense butt hurt you're feeling now. It's a self-inflicted injury mate.
