Is this the one that was single player only? What's the selling point? Multi was the best thing about Bomberman 64.

It's a linear platforming game that stands out both amongst the open world collectathons for the N64 and the normal arcade style games in the series.

Also bomberman is a good party game but multi-player is not the only appeal

it's got some cool things about it. the soundtrack is nice. I remember playing this game as a child, and it's one of those "nothing makes sense" sorts of things. it's like you've wandered into the wrong section of the bookstore again, and you can kind of read, so you're trying to figure out what the word 'transcendental' means but you keep thinking of teeth. also, it's pretty foolhardy of Bomberman to insist that he's a "Hero." What was he in the last game? 64? Dude needs to retire. Geriatric elderly bullshit. Anyways, I've really appreciated the time you've given me to ramble here tonight. Thanks for continuing to read this message. I'll end now. Thank you, again.

Why should Bomberman not be a hero? He has -man in his name.

I tried playing this game before since it was on Wii Virtual Console but I get bored or stuck like five-ten minutes in and always quit, am I a faggot?

Lots of supervillains follow the -Man convention as well, such as Sandman, Toyman, Calendar Man, Owlman, Absorbing Man, Molecule Man, Kiteman and Stilt-Man, just to name a few.

This is one of those games I'd really like to like more than I do, because it's cool stylistically, but the gameplay just doesn't have that certain something that makes it click for me.
I think my fundamental problem with Bomberman as a character is timed cherry bombs are kind of lame if that's all you have. If I were making a game like this, I'd probably rethink the character to have a variety of exploding style weapons and abilities. Rockets and bomb jumps and gloves that make explosions when you punch, and so on.

i think time bombs are a brilliant game mechanic and that's why bomberman games work
you set your attack and then you know anything in range is getting blown the fuck up so you have to move accordingly. it's one of those simple to explain, hard to master concepts like zelda boomerangs or gradius options
there's bomberman action games, adventure games, RPGs, platformers etc and they all work because time bombs are fun to use

>> No.8261040

>>8260937
well, that is normally how it works, but the bombs in hero explode on contact.

My theory is that they are a left over projectile weapon from when the game was originally a Bonk game. It was probably a rock originally.

>> No.8261047

>>8260937
In the context of classic Bomberman, I get it(though I've never been a huge fan), because it's all about outwitting your friends, but I don't think it really translates to a game that's supposed to be more of an action platformer. It's kind of like if you made a Zelda game, but you only had bombs to attack with, and no sword. It'd be frustrating.

a ton of people with -man at the end of their name are used to connect with mankind as a whole. a trend of outcast humans or space aliens to say -man. Superman. Batman. Spiderman. Super Mario doesn't require any of this. He's just his name. He's not Super Mario Man. He's removed the Man. To accept a name is to accept your fate. To announce you are "Bomberman" is to allow others to become "Bomberman."

The irony is his sole mission is to shed himself of his robot nature and to become man. But once he is man, he sheds the suffix.
