Just out of curiousity, what's /vr/'s opinion on "Plug 'N Play" controllers? Growing up, these things were all over my local flea market with bootleg versions of games such as dbz super butouden 2. My cousin and his kid sister also had a good dozen or so, especially the one in the pic

They're playable. I remember having the one in the picture and playing the fuck out of dig dug with my mom growing up.

The C64 one is a real re-implementation of the hardware in an FPGA. You can plug in a keyboard and use BASIC.

I had one with Xevious and Pac-man, it was really fun. It lasted a while, but my friend man handled it so much it the joystick kind of crapped out. If they're cheap it's a good buy.

>Joystick is on the opposite side

My autism can't handle dat shit.

Anyway, I remember these things being everywhere almost a decade ago. I'm surprised they still make them. I remember the Namco ones being pretty decent. Even one of them has the cherry-top act as a dial so Pole Position is actually playable.

>mfw They still charge $20 for them

No, for the love of god, don't get the Genesis one. It's filled with shovelware, and the sound is horribly emulated, leaving a bad mess which does not do the YM2612 justice.

>Never having used a VCS controller

I pick these up when I see them for $2. The C64 one is my favorite. I also like the two-paddle VCS one.

Used to have one of these.

Came with Sonic 2, The Ooze, Alex Kidd, Columns, Echo the Dolphin and some other game. Loved it. I want to get another one but I may as well just get a proper Megadrive.

I found one last week, it works fine for 5 minutes but then the color completely fades away. If you boot it up again, same thing happens. Leaky capacitor maybe?

it's pretty hard to have a favourite, so I like all of them equally.
