What do you think of this game and its sequel? I haven't played them yet but they are supposed to be hybrids of platformer and RPG which seems interesting.

first one is fun, don't know about the sequel
something something evil pigs in video games, etc.

Quintessential questformers.

It's a Tombania

I love the first game but the sequel is in a really weird spot for me. It's extremely competent and does everything a sequel should but at the same time it just lacks the, dare I say it, soul of the original. There are no mysteries (partly due to the cut content in the original, but still), dialogue is served by that ugly fairy thing which looks like it belongs in a completely different game and the areas are severely blander.

1st game is really something special. The second one is great at first, but really tanks during the second half of the game. Most of the rewards you get for doing side quests feel really underwhelming and the localization is absolutely ridiculous in how obvious it is that they shat it out in a hurry.

The first game didn't grab me, but I didn't give it much of a chance. The second game immediately felt much better, but one aspect completely ruined it for me

too bad the games got ruined by speedrunning autists, now it's impossible to discuss them

First one is Top 10 games to understand PSX S0UL. It's really a great game on its own, even tho the end game lacks in comparission to early and mid game

the trick is to simply ignore the autists, anon

Fell in love with Tomba 1 when I played it yesteryear. Sad to say the sequel is a downgrade in every regard, but supposedly the producer wanted to go the linear route because he couldn't stand the collectathon direction the genre was going in, so at least it's kind of based.

Played Tomba 2 first to 100% (or at least as close to 100% as I could since I didn't own the first one so could never get those hidden 4 quests) completion a couple times in my youth. Loved it. Still do. Fuck the trolley though.
Didn't play the first one until many years later. It looked and sounded great (and still does), but I simply couldn't, and still can't, get into it.

One of my favorite PSX games. There's not much else like it. Never got into Tomba 2 as much, but it's still good.

Is there content in 2 if you have save data from 1?

>> No.8249873

>>8249086
I loved it, although the endgame is obviously rushed. No interest in Tomba 2. It looks like shit compared to the awesome 32-bit spritework of the original.

>> No.8250017

>>8249863
Yeah. 4 additional optional events (with cameos from characters seen in Tomba 1). Completing all 133 events shows the best ending, but completing all 133 events + those 4 side events gained from your Tomba 1 save data has Tomba wear a tuxedo during said ending (for like a whole minute before he rips it off). Not really worth the effort, but it's cool that it exists nonetheless.

Currently playing Tomba 2. Or should I say "Tombi 2".
Where do I find the secret song pieces? And where to find secret towers?

I can't remember where to find each individual song piece (just keep doing every event you find and you'll get them eventually), but I'll never forget the tower locations.

>Tower of Courage
Pipe Area, on the rock wall on the side of the map opposite of the trolley entrance.
>Tower of Strength
Ranch Area, upper section where the birds are.
>Tower of Wisdom
Deep Forest, the tight nook where you found the Rock Crab.
>Golden Tower
Water Temple. Stands out by having 5 holes which need to be filled with the Pig Noses gotten from the Adventure Chests. Can't miss it.
Having all 3 Towers' treasures, along with all 3 Golden items, grants you the Golden Powder, granting you complete invincibility, making what remains of the game a joke. Thankfully you can toggle it on or off.

Use the songs near the respective locations to reveal them. If you only have half the song, the door will appear but won't open.
