Best looking night racing on PS1?
Open world tuner scene game before Need for Speed Underground 2?

Also does anyone play this? I'd like to have some tips for the game. Handling is very weird, I'm having trouble cornering while using bumper cam, unlike Ridge Racer and Gran Turismo where bumper cam is the best.

That's just black fog against black backdrop racing.

So. Fucking. What.
N64 fags are really that insecure about the framerates?

It's been a while since I last played but iirc to corner well you need to either tap brake or release accel. The longer you do the tighter the car corners, no complex physics involved.
It's fun but I wish it was a tiny bit longer. Really lacks some 3-4 extra nights. What night are you currently on anon?

>>8250371
IDK, prolly still the first one because I've just started and kinda struggle with the controls. I wish they were more intuitive like in GT1 where you can feel the car weight good enough.
I don't want to drop though, the game looks like I would love it once I master the car handling.

Push through, it gets really fun despite the somewhat janky handling. It checks all the boxes for "street racing in japan". You're going in blind, know moonrunes or are you using a translated guide?

Not OP but the game is translated up to night 5 IIRC

I'm using screenshot OCR + Google translate. Slow and autistic but works fine.
Any tips on the upgrades?

It's not the full game. But the translation seems to progress at a steady pace.
I can read moon runes so I don't really need it

Can't do any miracles power wise before you get any turbos, the first few nights before that are the hardest ones.
Try getting an engine from the S14s and the chassis from the kei vans. It's FWD but in the game it barely feels any different and it should be 200kg lighter than the stock AE86 one. Should be slightly less squirrely too.

>> No.8250437

And don't forget to always pair up the turbos with a low compression kit, otherwise you only get a small amount of HP.

Reading them sounds harder than understanding spoken JP. How long did learning it take?

>> No.8250674

>>8250437
It's the other way around. Speaking and listening comprehension can be acquired "naturally" by listening to japanese in context (movie/drama/whatevs) while Kanji needs to be learnt the hard way. You need to go to your desk and painfully write them for hours (at least at first) to get muscular memory. I started 8 years ago, lived in Japan 3.

Aaaand I misunderstood your question because I'm a filthy ESL. But yes, reading is harder than listening comprehension

Racing Lagoon, JP only but getting translated. TXR probably takes a page or two from it, and references it at least once. The same bridge should be in TXR too iirc.
>>8250676
The question was formulated by an ESL too, don't worry about it, should've been clearer :)
I imagined Kanji would be a giant cunt to learn. Sounds like you don't regret it at least, props for dedicating yourself to that for 8 years.

Yes? There is like 5 games that run in 60fps on the n64 Most n64 releases targeted 15-20fps.

It's worth it if you have an actual use for it (having a Japanese GF, working in Japan or with Japanese). Not worth it for vidya only (or pop culture).

Yes, the PS1 had that long before the N64 even existed. Made by one guy and with more detail, too.
