Whats the biggest collector mistake you made

>senior in HS in 2016, working and making money
>want to start buying some classic gamecube games but kept putting it off
>look at prices now

I did buy a good amount in 2019, go chili-robo with case (no manual) for 50 bucks, now look at it.

being a coomlector in the first place

>not just having an ancient PC that you pirate games for and emulate SNES games on while you get high and stain your black wife beater with Costco hot dog juice and beer
get on my level, kid.

Question for the fervent anti-collector anons: would you consider me a "coomllector" if I simply just kept my childhood games?

Collecting in the first place, thank god for ode's and flash drives

>Not getting a copy of Chibi-Robo without the manual for 40$ and instead buying fucking Unlimited Saga instead.
>Not buying Stunt Racer for N64 for 5$ and buying Wizardry V for the SNES for 10$ instead
>Got a Vectrex for free from a friend of my mom, but had no controller. Could have bought a complete Vectrex at my local shop for 100$, but decided not to cause "all i want is teh controller", when just a loose controller now will cost me like 200$
>Not getting the rest of the games for the Pokemon Mini back when I got it when they were new.
>Seeing the advertisement for Pokemon Box in Nintendo Power and how you could order it off an official website and me KNOWING even back then it would be rare, but kept putting it off.
>Not buying the English version of that one mech tactics game for the NeoGeo Pocket Color(Faseili?) when a lot of them were found in a warehouse and were selling for 30$ on some website I had saved.
>Not preordering 3 of the Genesis games I wanted from Super Fighter Teams website and they never getting a reprint.
>Getting a Sega Saturn early on in the 2000s and looking up a bunch of games I wanted from US and Japan and prices still being low but being retarded and putting it off.
>Modern shit, but not buying Godzilla on PS4 and Jojo All-Stars for PS3 when they had used copies in my local GameStop.
>Buying Segagaga in the early days of PlayAsia when if i had waited another weak i could have gotten the collectors edition of it for 10$ more.
>Not going all in on the stuff I wanted for the Sega CD back when I got one.
>Not buying the Amiga CD32 back when they were cheap.

But the biggest mistake is all around me being a cheap cunt and finding good stuff at thrift stores and yard sales so I developed the mentality of "il just wait, im sure I will find this at a better price someday" and also for whatever fucking reason, not making better use of ebay and online shopping in the early 2000s when my family got internet.

i bout that in 2019 for $30, what are you talking about?

>> No.8199614

Not so much a mistake as unfortunate circumstance, but not buying the boxed copies of the SNES Megaman games from my local game store when the owner was liquidating his SNES rental section because I was too young to afford to.

>> No.8199726

Not buying a copy of God Hand like ten years ago. My copy I got used was scratched. I kept putting off buying another copy off ebay because lol it's god hand. now it's over a hundred dollars. Not a big deal as I can just emulate but still, it'd be nice to have a working copy

But anyway most of us can just say "didn't pick up Earthbound when it was $20 NIB in bargain bins" because that's the summation of what the answers will be.

I've slowly been selling a lot of my collection off between 2016-2021, but out of the 100's of games I've sold, i regret selling my PS2 .Hack games and Breath Of Fire IV the most. I loved those games.

This one pains me because it was in the local Walmart for ages and I really wanted to buy it, but as soon as I bought a PS4 and went to buy the game it was gone. Fuck.

Sold Einhander and CIB Lunar Silver Star Story with the cloth map and everything when I was a strapped for cash young man. Would be nice to have today.

Your biggest mistake was just getting into collecting retro games as a zoomer. This coming from a zoomer. I only buy consoles and other hardware like that never games, always get flashcart or emulate
