Guardian Heroes (along with Princess Crown) is actually one of Treasure's least shitty games, it just sticks to being a beat 'em up, no retarded gimmicks or shitty game design ideas included.

Well the fact that Guardian Heroes has three seperate planes you fight in rather than one you can go up/down in is definitely a gimmick. I cannot recall even one other beat 'em up that did this.

The XBL arcade version from what I understand has 60fps with none of the drops the Saturn game had. Not sure why they didn't port it anywhere else.

Probably a hot take, but I actually like Advance Guardian Heroes a little bit more than the original. It's the closest we ever got to a 2D Devil May Cry-like beat em up. But yes, I do agree that it's ugly as sin.

Did they? I didn't know if that is true. FF though only did two planes vs three. Seems better if it were just two planes desu. Would have improved the game by simplifying plus getting rid of the chasing that the three planes combat leads to.

I do like that it is more traditional with only a single plane to fight on but it just felt lazy to me. Like it could have been way better. I do like GH despite it seeming like I don't. Was pretty much the first game in the genre I ended up truly liking a lot as a kid. Now though I wouldn't have it as my top but its still good.
