If you crouch on an early mushroom in the first stage, you get a lot of equipment including a giant flame sword. This doesn't seem to actually help much though.

Enjoyable GIF, but she really is not that hot in the NES game. The hottest thing in the NES game is when you get that weird giant ball-and-chain weapon and smash through a lot of blocks at once with it.

Vidya covers from Japan can often be replaced with crap when localized to the West, but I'm sorry, the Westerners floored them here. The Japanese cover looks kinda like something you'd see in the corner of a promotional piece or an article about the game in a magazine. They didn't get someone to paint a nice cover for the game, they took some production art they had around and just slapped it on the front.

HOWEVER on a scale rating it by the number of weird giant ball-and-chain weapons in it that break a lot of blocks simultaneously, it gets an embarrassing zero while Athena gets an excellently high score of one.
