Have you been replaying the pre-3DS 2D Metroid titles? I can't decide between Zero Mission and Fusion tonight. I've played Super so much that it's starting to bore me.

fusion. zero mission is just watered down super.

zero mission is just super but good, so play fusion for a change of pace

No, Metroid is cringe.

I'm in the process of beating Fusion right now after beating zero mission. Why are they so hand-holdy compared to super?

Portable platform. Fusion specifically they wanted to do a simpler action oriented title before attempting another original super to ease the new team in, shame they got shut down after just doing a remake.

>> No.8172040

Credit where it's due, Fusion actually has a unique identity as a game. ZM is an attempt at remaking Metroid 1 into Metroid 3 for some reason, without preserving Metroid 3's atmosphere, mood, sound design, or satisfying exploration at all in the process. ZM is a game you play once and never have a reason to revisit; any time you might want to replay it, replaying Super instead is a stronger equivalent choice 100% of the time.

I played SR a few months ago.

Maybe it's nostalgia or the fact that it was my first, but I've played ZM all the way through at least 20 times. I did complete playthroughs of it while standing in line to vote for the first time and when I graduated college.

It was a big moment in my life to play that game and discover Metroid's artistic trappings and storytelling style. I think Super is deeper overall (played it for the first time in college) but I could run through ZM literally every weekend and never get tired of it.

No because I'm not a retarded secondary who never played them and is being told to play them now by a onions YTber clapping like a seal for Dread and telling you what to do and how to think.

Theres so many super metroid rom-hacks that are amazing why even bother with those meh gba ones?

>> No.8174394

I'd pick ZM as I think it's better and played through Fusion a couple months ago, but I love all three

Nope, not gonna get burnt out on Metroid before the new one comes out

>> No.8175157

I've been playing the series in chronological order and it's been an eye opening experience. Fusion was my introduction to the series as a kid so I played them all out of order originally. Playing through them now I can better appreciate the callbacks and recurring elements. The biggest revelation was playing through the original Metroid 2, it's held up a lot better than it gets credit for and Fusion in particular has lots of references to it.

I'd try to tell my sister's Samus was a robot because you could see gears in the visor there.

It couldn’t be that some of us are excited for a new 2d Metroid in general? Nope must just be because someone else told us to. Moron.

I always felt Metroid II was the most underappreciated of the series. Its gameplay style is old-fashioned enough that it repels zoomers, but it doesn't have the elements of the first game that attract contrarian personalities.

Real metroid fans have played all the games ad naseum YEARS ago. If you have to "replay" them now just because a new one is out you're doubly retarded: 1stly because you're burning yourself out before it even drops, and 2ndly because you ARE playing it just because other people are doing it/telling you to. Its so painfully fucking obvious how most of you are seocndaries or semi-normalfags crawling in through reddit. I suggest you all fuck off back to where you came from, because you arent blending in in the slightest. Most fans are just speculating or waiting to see how MercurySteaming Pile of Shit fucks this one up like the past time. Theyre not here dancing and whooping going DUDE HAVE YOU GUYS PLAYED THE OLDER GAMES HOLY FUCK BRUH

Fusion if you want more action and story.

ZM if you want shorter game and less hand holdy.

>>8170707
The original seem boring. Pic related good enough.

The original is awesome. give it a go. Hell draw a map, it's very short you can beat it in a week easily if you commit to drawing one - in one sitting if you pussy out and use a map online.

ZM for pick up and play, Fusion for a more committal experience

A week? You can beat it in an evening. Metroid 1 is a tiny game.

Fusion is better than Zero Mission desu. It is linear and forces story too much with the constant talking to the PC that is not Adam but besides that its amazing and probably my favorite Metroid. Super is obvoiusly the most complete package and maybe its only flaw is it doesn't play as smoothly as the GBA ones.

Actually finished Fusion recently. I don't really believe it's a bad game or anything, but won't pretend I didn't start getting pissed off at it after the Yakuza spider boss. Still probably going to play it again anyway, though. Fuck me, though, only like 59%? Honestly thought I was more thorough than that.
