Any mac users here? Whats your favorite emulator for any systems?

>> No.814738

a pc emulator

Basically everything from this guy:

Not a macfag, but pretty much every worthwhile emulator can be used on Mac nowadays, the only glaring exceptions being SSF and Project64, and Mupen64plus is about on par anyway, so really, you're only missing out on good Saturn emulation since Yabause kinda blows.

Oh boy. I used this guy's shit back in like fucking 2007 when my parents' Mac was the only computer I had access to.

Hey, I wonder...

http://www.bannister.org/software/ba.htm
>There are no plans to spend any more effort on compatibility until the Gameboy Advance is no longer on commercial sale; as such, bug reports for this emulator will be ignored at this time.

Yup, that's still there.

Wow. It is fucking 2013. Maybe you could throw Macfags a bone and let them emulate fucking GBA games. The DS came out in fucking 2004 and GBA games dried up fast as shit after that.

Uh, VBA-M and RetroArch's VBA-Next core are available for Mac, you know.

Then the faggot could be honest and replace that notice with "My emulator was obsoleted by other emulators and I'm too lazy to update it."

Either way, >>814795 is a wrong idiot.

>> No.814886

>>814880
A lot of people are just lazy and don't update shit. Just take a look at The Emulation Zone, which still recommends emulators from the late 90's and early 2000's as being good.

Openemu has supplanted basically everything for me save PCSX-R. It's "Just works" incarnate.

follow up question:
What controller do you use? Will any usb controller work or are some PC only?

IIRC PS3 controllers will just work without extra work on Mac.

Boxer is a great one for old DOS games. It's essentially a prettier, more convenient version of DOSBox. Pic related, it has a neat little "shelf" interface for your library.

What things do y'all dislike about the PC?
TIME TO TURN LE TABLE ON PCFAGS!

>> No.816104

Any POSIX-compliant FOSS emulator.
Not everything needs to be OSX-specific, and when it comes to software that doesn't suck, it's usually platform-independent.
That's because standards-compliant code is good code.
So, higan is obviously a big one.

Not to mention it's still lacking features when using the enhancer.

IMO, OpenEmu is probably the future for mac. It's very akin to RetroArch but uses a much better GUI for people who are more familiar with the OS as shitty as it is, but that's not for this thread.

Boxer is actually the greatest DOSbox frontend on any computer, I really wish someone would think about porting it. I just wish GOG would quit using an outdated version for everything and let us use fast smoothing though.

Well, get used to it, Skeuomorphism is dead in most places and dying in the rest.
The only reason Apple did it for so long is because Steve Jobs was a self-absorbed retard with no sense for design. iOS7 and whatever cat they're using for the next OSX release are abandoning the concept completely.

>> No.816264

>>816171
>I never played Boxer
Actually that's a pretty horrible pic, the point of using it is because the frontend installs any file, CD, folder, etc into one easy to use and one-click file akin to a ROM file.

>> No.816281

>>816264
I don't deny that Boxer is a good frontend (most anything is better than using any IBM-developed shell directly), but skeuomorphism is always heavily misguided, and never looks anything better than out of place in the middle of any OS interface.
A list of games, or some thumbnails on an unobtrusive background is more than enough.
Wood grain and shelves floating on a computer desktop looks retarded.
