They're pretty fun. I presume fairly cheap too. That one card game on it was good.

not anymore :(
A console is like $100 and the games are 20-30 each

>> No.8112048

Ten years ago, I can't fucking believe just ten years ago these puppies were being sold for ten bucks online, and that's like ten less than what they were being sold in stores a decade prior.
I hear Samurai Showdown and other fighting games on it were pretty cool

I foolishly sold mine a 5 years ago for pretty much 1/3 of what they're going for now :(
I'm craving card fighters clash again

A PS5 is like 500 bucks, with 70 dollar games, what's your point?

>> No.8113270

>tfw bought one new in box for something like 20 bucks back in 2002
I remember seeing ads for it when it was new and thinking it looked cool but once my fighting game obsessed eighth grade self finally got to try one out I was pretty sold. I've loved the thing ever since.

I have fond memories playing the games on it. My circle of friends all got it in its day, and it was a shame the system's time was limited, but we had a lot of fun with the games. I would say it is best in a community setting, and totally worth it.

Supreme was making homeless ppl close and putting their logo on it in the late 90s too? I thought that was a modern thing.
>>8112013
It's not worth it now, but it was worth it in the past. Very cheap yet nicely builty machine and a good amount of very fun games, and it had nice battery life.

Errrr.... uhhh.... Kinda? You're better off emulating though.

I managed to snag the full US collection CIB (except The Last Blade and Faselei which were only released as loose carts in multipacks) and most of them sealed for a pittance, and all the console variants

> 2021 have ngpc itch again
> skips over because it’s too expensive
> It’s the year 2025
> have ngpc itch just like I did in 2015 and 2021

I still have the one I bought when it was released and recently got a flash cart for it. It's still fun to play, especially the fighting games.

>> No.8122597

NGPC worth buying for the clicky stick alone imo, especially since the anon above says there are flashcarts you can buy

I like the games.
Dunno if you could tolerate the unlit screen in this modern era of extremely bright backlights, but the library is cool.
mostly played KOF R-2, Metal Slug 2nd Mission, Biomotor Unitron, and Card Fighters Clash

>>8118572
Supreme has been around since '94 as a skater clothes brand, and at some point in the 2000s, they realized they could jack up prices and ride people's hype for limited release items.

I got Biomotor Unitron for like £5 back in the day and fucking love it, such a short yet fun RPG. Since the games have gotten ridiculous now I'm glad I pretty much have everything I wanted, I just regret not buying Metal Slug 2nd Mission.

I'd agree with you for any handhelds bar the DS line but for the NGPC, you really need to feel the hardware. It's a fucking beautiful piece of kit.

>> No.8125879

>>8125872
Just imagining the clicky stick brings a smile to my face. I wish I still had a NGPC. I don't agree when it comes to emulating though. I appreciate most things about classic hardware and enjoy getting the original experience.

>> No.8125883

>>8125879
I see no issues with emulating a Game Boy though, it's pretty nondescript hardware. I myself own these consoles so I don't personally emulate, but I have no hateboner against it.

>> No.8125890

>>8125883
I don't have any issue emulating it and I enjoy doing it sometimes. I prefer actually holding a gameboy in my hand and seeing the game on a correctly shaped screen though. That's why when I emulate gameboy stuff I usually end up going back to GBA, displaying it in the correct aspect ratio on a 16:9 TV doesn't leave huge borders and actually looks pretty good.

Didn’t most games from this console get released on the Switch?

>> No.8128985

>>8128236
Yes they did

It's so surreal too because the NGPC was practically irrelevant, even inside the retro gaming community, until about a few years ago. Now everyone knows about them.
