Haven't touched it in a few months but the last xbox game I played was Project Gotham Racing 2. A really underrated feature of this game is that each city has its own radio stations with unique music. https://vgost.fandom.com/wiki/Project_Gotham_Racing_2 closest I've seen to that in another game is the radio stations in GTA, but that doesn't have the regional aspect like PGR2 does.

Are there any digital button mods for Xbox?
Got some nice wireless logitech controllers that require pressing the button really hard to get a full 255 analog press but not all games detect light button presses. I'd like to make it so that any press is always a full press on the face buttons.

What's the easiest way to get a USB 1.1 usb stick for softmodding the Xbox?
Alternatively, how do I figure out if a thumbdrive I already own is 1.1? I have an old-ass thumbstick I dug out of a box but I can't tell in device properties if the xbox would support it.

go on amazon.com, look up "splinter cell xbox" and click it to view the store page. Under the "frequently bought together" section you should see a usb to xbox adapter as well as compatible usb drives. Otherwise if you have a PSP those actually do work if you can spare a memory stick to be xbox formatted.

/vr/ keeps telling me that the xbox is a notoriously hard system to buy for because a lot of them are broken or will break soon. I see a lot of listings for reasonably priced consoles advertised as "tested, guaranteed working." Are they jewing me? How likely will it break within a year's time?

>> No.8086730

>>8086727
They have addressable issues, the biggest problem is they do need some work done. Unusual for a system that's only 20 years old or so. They were also made during the capacitor plague so sometimes you lose the capacitor library and get a shitbox. Really the only way to tell is to open it up. All clock caps must be removed however, unless it's a 1.6 model (xcalibur encoder by the AV out)

You're probably gonna be fine, just get it loading off a hard drive and modded as soon as you can.

Blinx 1 is mediocre. Very small stages, there's a 10 minute time limit per level and that's generous. Your objective is always to kill
every enemy and the enemies are rarely interesting. You just shoot them. The time gimmick is cool though.
Blinx 2 kicks ass though. Much more interesting level design with varied objectives, and you swap between the time cats and pig thief guys who have guns and gadgets.

did it a few weeks back or so, first time ever working with caps too. Kinda almost wanting to install some ram chips for the fun of it, is it possible to make games take advantage of the extra ram to fix some fps drops in certain games?

>> No.8089241

>>8089226
That's not quite universally true. There's a couple of examples where the PS2 is superior in multiplats, particularly with Japanese games. MGS2/3 are the most famous examples, since they were both initially built for the PS2 very intimately around its hardware and only later ported to Xbox.
It's generally the best choice for multiplats, though. It's why I keep mine plugged in. Zero fuss moving games onto it, near universal 480p output, often the best performance too.
>>8089239
I believe there's a few games that had patches, plus some homebrew can take advantage of it. Also allows you to play one or two arcade games that never had home conversions that were based on the same hardware.

>> No.8089247

>>8089241
yyeaahh im thinking most games were better on ps2, and that only seems to be because most of development for those specific games were tied to the ps2's fucktarded architecture so the porting job to xbox was sub par. Twinsanity is a game i burned to dvd-r recently to give it a shot, only to find out it was missing all kinds of shader effects and looked overall worse despite being crisper in 480p.

Ill have to look into the patches then, i have zero interest in homebrew and emulation since i have every physical console i'd want to emulate anyway.

And it's not a fucking 2003 playground anon, nobody's insisting the PS2 is the overall more capable system or anything. We're talking about the games and the state of their experience on the system. And it's not even just Konami games, or just Japanese games. The 3D era GTA games are infamous for missing visual features on other systems. And that's not just a result of power differences, that's also a result of the PS2's GPU being more directly programmable to easily do certain more modern shader effects in the right hands.

Literally no one said "japanese games", the guy just pointed out the infamous comparison for mgs and i pointed out the possible rationale for why very few games were upgraded for xbox. there were quite a few games that either got a straight port job with no enhancements or were total downgrades, thats the only thing that kept me from really getting into xbox again until recently.
Xbox was a beast that *should* have been given better porting treatment, i can safely say that, anyone with two brain cells can see how beastly the specs were for it but unfortunately we didn't end up in that blessed timeline, and thats fine.
