Kirby probably, it was one of the last ones on NES so they had the graphics pretty much perfected on what they could squeeze out of one of those carts. What I hate about game systems is that you never see truly great games on them that take advantage/make the most out of hardware becaues by the time developers figure it out that generation is old news.

It's saddening that the best games for the NES and SNES were third party titles, yet after those, they have to rely on their own games. Nintendo fell a long damn way, didn't they?

It's hard to pin point an exact "best looking" game, since most of the NES' life was full of primitive games, and it wasn't until the SNES era when games became modern, and artists became aware of what artstyles could do to a game.

However, I was always quite impressed with James Bond Jr., especially since this is a BritBong game.

>> No.806393

I own it too, the pirated famicom cart. It does have slowdowns, and flickering but video also has stuttering that is absent on my famiclone.

>> No.806401

>>806392
Well of course they have to work around limitations, otherwise the game won't work. It's just that the potential of the NES is largely untapped, and would be possible to dig out all of it's power with homebrew games. However, the NES has the worst homebrew scene available.

>>806393
Flickering is pretty much a given. The game was programmed to flicker lots, and relegated the flickering to projectiles shot by the player. The NES also has a scanline limit, too, which is impossible to bypass.

Yes it is! However, the hidden sound test menu is untranslated. This repro is really well done, too.

Also, another game that's horribly overlooked. (Samurai) Zombie Nation is arguably one of the best looking games on the system, and it has some nice music. In fact, it's obvious that whoever worked on this game knew what they were working with, they just had very little direction. Looks a lot better in motion.

When I power my NES while playing LoZ or any other save capable game, do I really need to hold reset when I switch the power off?

No. Battery back-ups were new, and Nintendo wasn't sure if or what could cause save files to corrupt at the time. The battery save works just like any Super Nintendo battery save game like Mario World Donkey Kong Country or Super Metroid.

I know what you mean, they would only draw the shooting sprites every other frame to save processing power.
