Correct, it's an amazing game. Easily the most polished RPG I ever played, I can't even find a fault with it. Maybe a bit long, it could have ended at Dhoulmagus and I'd be satisfied.

Most modern tvs should still include connections for both composite and component.
It's not going to look pretty, but you'll get over it. You should just get a ps2, if you're strapped for cash and you don't want to get into collecting then there is always the option of modding.

What's autistic about that? they shouldn't be that hard to find online nor too expensive.
You'll get over a stretched aspect ratio pretty quickly, it may be genuinely ugly to look at for a while but you'll adjust.
I do it constantly, looks ugly for a while after playing games at 4k on PC, but PCSX2 genuinely just has too many problems with various games out there. (ones that bother me anyway, I'm only autistic about graphical/game glitches)

For a console that is a retro console and falls into the category of discussion on this board and the topic of discussion for a fucking PS2 games thread? it sounds like you're lost and in the the wrong thread if anything.
What's autistic about that? i might seem more autistic to say it on /v/, but not here. I've seen numerous deals on Ebay where you can pick up old fat PS2's bundled with numerous games for like 50 bucks, probably cheaper in the states. You don't buy it for one game, you buy it because the PS2 has heaps of fucking games (some that are borked on PCSX2 to this day mind you)
Also Dragon Quest 8 is a major time investment, the 3DS version's soundtrack fucking sucks and isn't the proper orchestral one used on the PS2. Why does that matter exactly? because you'll be hearing it A LOT

The game takes like what, 60 hours for full completion. That's not too bad for a DQ game. Plus the best part of DQ8 is the trials at the end so why wouldn't you want more of that to push the combat mechanics to the fullest.

>> No.8012731

>>8012698
If you don't grind in DQ8 you can easily be stomped by encounters and bosses. It's not the hardest RPG but it's very telling that you used metal slimes early on. Dhoulmagus fight is very hard for a midgame fight especially if you don't grind. After that it does become a little easier. But the extra dungeon and Dragovian trial bosses are more than pressing confirm. They're pretty challenging.

>> No.8012762

>> No.8012763

>>8012762
You won't get lost too many times in the game because everyone tells you where to go. But prepping for the extra dungeon and getting through it and the extra dragon bosses at the end can tack on extra time. So yeah for full completion minus completing recipe list and monster list takes about 60.

>> No.8012765

>>8012770
Now play based DQIX where 80% of your playtime is side content (as long as you use a save editor to get the downloadable content anyway which adds like 1/4th of the game). Easily my favorite DQ in terms of gameplay and variety and its a shame the series never attempted anything like it again.

I'm convinced whoever needs muh double exp and gold patches/mechanics is either a casual (yes, a casual for JRPGs, that's what I'm getting at) or someone who just doesn't like the genre enough to actually enjoy the games for what they are. DQVIII actually has a pretty decent level of difficulty like the first boss in that cave, the squid, that demonic dog you chase as it flies aways and of course the Dragovian Trials.

It's like you're admitting the genre is bad.
If you hate grinding that's what has always been pretty heavily tied with old school JRPGs like Dragon Quest.
If you need those factors to help out your experience with the game, it's another way of saying you want the game to be over and done with as soon as possible.
