Anyone have any good childhood memories with your parents, siblings or friends that come to mind?

>4 years old
>Tekken 2 just came out
>dad would play Yoshimitsu and stab himself over and over to fuck with me
>my mom never let me play Tekken 2 or Twisted Metal 2 because it was too scary and violent but my dad would always let me play whenever my mom was out of the house

Good times. I wonder how different my vidya preferences would have been if my dad wasn't such a big Sega/PS fan.

My dad has always played games. Have lots of good memories watching him play whatever. A good one was when we both played through Prince of Persia 3D together.

My dad once played melee with us for the hell of it, sat on the glass coffee table as his seat, and shattered the glass after a few minutes. He was laying down in the middle of the coffee table frame for a minute

>raised by grandparents because dad was busy with the military and medical school, then later my dad's new wife didn't want his old kid in the family
>spend a weekend staying with my dad when his wife was out of town
>he spends most of the night sitting around playing Quake on his computer
>10 years later wonders why I don't want anything to do with him

Used to play the original Legend of Zelda with my granddad. He was a drafter in the Air Force and had endless reams of graph paper that we used to make maps of the dungeons and overworld. F, Gramps. My dad only plays Civilization, and he cringes every time I mention video games, which is never often anymore. My brother and I still game online on the occasion that we both have a free moment.

Why are you not playing Quake in 2021? Aged like wine.

I played a bit with my dad as a kid. Pic related is probably the one we played the most. I also remember him playing a flight sim called Team Apache.

I have way too many memories to narrow down when it comes to playing with brother. I remember in Mario Kart 64, we'd mess around at Peach's castle in Royal Raceway. We explored other tracks, both in MK64 and Diddy Kong Racing, looking for other "bonus" areas like that but rhat was our favorite.

I also had a cousin a few years older than me who lived within walking distance of my house. I was young enough to think teenagers were inherently cool so I already looked up to him and he also played video games so that made him cooler to me. He had systems I didn't (Genesis and Playstation). NBA Jam was one of my favorite games to play at his house. He also got me into Mortal Kombat when I was probably way too young for it.

I did this once as a kid too. Glass coffee tables are actually kinda cringe.

My dad once pulled a Christmas Story on me. Christmas day and all I wanted was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the PS1. I had opened up all my presents and did not get the game I wanted. My dad was like "so anon...did you get everything you want for Christmas? You did? Well that's good but I think maybe you should grab me the remote for the couch compartment"

Opened it up and sure enough there it was. I spent the remainder of the day playing Harry Potter and eating candy. Pretty damn good Christmas.

Not really about family but similar to what your dad did(although my brother would often play as well when it happened). Halo was played often with friends in the neighborhood, I didn't really like FPS's as much as everyone else but I always played along.

They did Rockets often, and I sucked at this. So I pretty much always used as many grenades and plasmas and then shot a rocket directly below me at then to see how high I can be bombed away, and I always waited for someone to have me in my sights to do it.

No one ever complained that I was sabotaging myself because it was too funny and fun to see me fly into the sky and get better at it over time.

At least your mom had somewhat of a legitimate reason. When I was a kid, we had one of those big ass 50 inch or so tv's. It was the only tv in the house with composite and my mom wouldn't let me play our ps1 at all because she didn't want her tv's image to be fucked up. Went as far as to hide the ps1, controllers, and inputs from me. It never occured to her or anybody in our house really to go and find adapters for the other tv's, of course the ps1 itself was defective and eventually stopped working on its own.

I remember loving watching Dad play Diablo 1 when I was around 5 years old. To me, it was the coolest thing ever as his warrior would shatter skeletons and crush scavengers. I would try to play it sometimes, but stopped as The Butcher scared the crap out of me.
Dad would collect daggers and spiked clubs because I liked the way they looked.
I love my Dad.
