Well, there's like 5 decent Japanese-only games that have translation patches that you can play on that.
Like Dobutsu no Mori, Doushin the Giant, Sin and Punishment, Viewpoint 2064, Bomberman 64 Arcade Edition, Custom Robo, Wonder Project J2, Puyo Puyo Sun 64, any whatever else comes out in the future

There's also several Zelda romhacks, Mario 64 romhacks, Doom 64 romhacks, and a few others.

You can also use it to develop your own romhacks or translations.

Also, to be fair there's like 30 really good games on N64 like Mischief Makers that most people have never even heard of.

Retard. My point is that as a kid you never had a large library, most kids never had more than 10 games for any console. Nobody was complaining that 300 games was too small when they only could afford 5 games at the time. The 30-60 figure is assuming you're downloading roms or are a collector. Hardly anybody except autistic full set completionists has more than that.

The GD drive is the only thing that used the 12V rail. Leaving the regulator in does nothing but create excess heat that raises temps. This is documented and proven by multiple people online. Collingall of Laser Bear tested it with a thermal sensor. You do not need to remove it but it does help.

It's documented and tested that without loading the rail it overheats badly to the point of failure. You can buy plastic inserts that act as an airguide to help cool it, but that's only a bandaid. Really these ODEs should have some way to load the 12v and spread the heat around some.

>> No.8003435

>>8003425
I don't know what more proof you need than the words of the oscilloscope monkeys that built the hardware.
"One important thing to mention is that the GDROM draws power from the 12v rail on the power supply. In NTSC units this is the only device that does. So when you remove it, the 12v rail is left floating. This causes the voltage regulator to get hotter than it would under load, making your Dreamcast more vulnerable to overheat. The easiest solution is to add a 300Ohm 1W resistor across 12v and Gnd. You can just jam the legs into the connector. This simulates a GDROM drive and returns the load to normal. However, the safest and most efficient solution is to desolder the voltage regulator. It’s not needed (except on PAL units), unless you ever intend to replace the GDROM drive."

Another person measured the voltage and without a load it crept up to over 14v meaning it was both overheating AND overdrawing. These people don't feel the need to film themselves doing that, so again, I don't know what "proof" I can get you.

I just googled it, found something that aligns with my own knowledge of how voltage regulation works. I also learned that the PAL consoles require it which is something I didn't know a minute ago.
