Ghoster Coaster, a janky 1981 piece of shit that was nonetheless an absolute fucking baby ride. Its primary fear factor is that an adult will not be secured properly and leaves the coaster cramped with bruised knees for riding a ride sized for 10 year olds. It is a severely bumpy ride even for what it is though. I guess it being my first rollercoaster, the bumping and rattling was a pretty convincing effect for "you're gonna die, kid".

When I was a retarded child and first playing this game, I was fucking around with the scenario editor. I had absolutely no idea how to set the boundaries of a park, just absolutely no clue. So I thought that the way to set the boundary is to get the mesh fence scenery piece that looked somewhat like the park border fence and place each fence one by one where I wanted the park border to be, and I thought that when I finished it'd just form itself into the park border magically like a multiblock structure in a Minecraft mod. I spent 3 mornings before school on the computer at like 6 am placing these fucking fences, making sure they looked right. I got extremely close to finishing the entire perimeter of the park... until I found the park border button.

I'll never agree with a real park having a clacking woodie as its little kids first roller coaster for this reason. No matter how weenie the drops actually are, the whole "bumpy and rickety" schtick just convinces a kid (who doesn't know any better than to trust feelings) that roller coasters are unsafe and barely holding it together. It doesn't get them into riding bigger and better things because they wouldn't learn that this is all a deliberate effect.

well at least you saved yourself the trouble of finding out the hard way.

anyway my retard kid story is that when the RCT2 expansions came out, I didn't realize you installed them once and then played the game with the vanilla RCT2 disk. I spent like an hour trying to get the game to play off of the Wacky Worlds/Time Twister expansion (no clue which one it was, whichever came first) and gave up. The next morning, I was sad that my fancy new expansion didn't work, so I put the vanilla CD in and it worked.

Overjoyed, I immediately switched to the expansion disk and the game crashed.

Holy shit the ghost test trains are fucking useless. They literally do not work if your ride has a block section on it. It's such a pain in the ass.
Oh you want to merge track types together, an already laborious, finicky, and buggy as fuck task? No ghost trains for you, your track isn't finished. :)
Cool thanks Gymnasiast I'm glad you thought being able to test an unfinished ride was a completely useless feature after adding these piece of shit ghosts that don't work with block brakes, good shit. Holy fuck.

You guys have no idea how angry building Pteranodon and The Three Monkeys made me. Both of their layouts would have been much, MUCH cooler if track merging and testing worked as intended.

It's interesting information, but I don't think there are a lot of situations in which it matters. Scenarios give you what they give you in the order that they give them. If you aren't in a scenario, then you don't need money methods.

>> No.7980063

>>7978730
I disagree and it looks like he's choosing based on use for scenario play and stats alone. He's entitled to his opinions but it seems kind of soulless to parade coaster types as THE BEST because of numbers. Also Reddit acts like he's the only authority on RCT and takes everything he says as gospel, and that kind of fart huffing drives me looney.

Like the other anon said, something about him rubs me the wrong way, too. Maybe it's his manner of speech. He talks like a less annoying Chills (the burger king foot fungus guy)

>> No.7980090

>>7978730
There are at least two literally opposite criteria here that he should have just ranked separately. Ranking rides that are efficient but in completely incompatible ways creates a situation where there are like 5 runners-up to some of these higher-ranked coasters that massively outperform say the Junior Coaster at the same things that the higher ones outranked it by doing. And that same Junior Coaster is there for scenario and cost practicality that other rides above it have absolutely zero use at, so by its own criteria it destroys them. The Twister Coaster entry is a nested set of separate coasters if you listen to it, one of which outperforms the Twister Coaster and the other 2 should be bumping things off the bottom of the list below it since they have the same merits he describes but very, very slightly worse.

I like this guy's videos but this is so arbitrary with no clear preference for stats, versatility, price, size, or exploitability for cheese. He just kind of mixes all of those willy-nilly so they fail to compare to each other properly, when this should have been at least a couple different lists or just 5 different awards for being the best at one of those things, which this could have almost been specified to fit.

Use the different ground types to break up the ground. Place trees in clumps. Select trees that look good together. Place bushes around clumps of trees so it goes from small bush > taller trees. Try to place trees with a logic, trees, maybe only certain plants grow on slopes or near water etc

>>7992638
It depends how crazy you want to go. You should smooth out your water edges. You can change the terrain under water to give the water areas more variation. There's a reed style prop you can put on the water to look like cattails, you can also submerge reeds under water if want it to look like water grasses but i've forgotten how to do it. Try and structure your plants a little more, those 1/4 bushes in the top left look good, you should spam them around the water edge, think of where the ground would be mucky and spam them there. Maybe place some grass terrain on the right side where the ground is "higher". You can place some dirt around the water edges to break up the swampy terrain you have

>> No.7992787

>>7992578
Go look at an ingame scenario with forests. Pick a 10x10 area of trees and analyze what you're actually looking at, all the ways variation is being used.

Looking good! I don't really do scenario editing but can you tint ground? Because the flat ground level with the water surface could be tinted toward the water's color to really give the impression of a semi-waterlogged space like the geographic area you're depicting, or even to appear as a halfway point to being submerged.

What are the most common guests favored intensity for rides? I was trying to make a coaster for the lower intensity guests to level up but apparently can't bring myself to make one with an intensity below 5.2 or so. Is this low enough or do I need to build a sub-4 intensity coaster, or are the gentle rides like carousels and shit good enough to level up a guest's acceptable intensity range?
