Agreed. I have the emu, the bios, the rom, and yet I CAN'T GET IT TO TWERK PROPERLY. I just want to play Legend Of Oasis. Sob.

I HATE when my ROMS won't twerk properly.

Check around the Googleverse for proper settings, configs, plugins, etc., I see youtube vids of Sturn emulation, and people seem to be doing fine. they may just have beastmode desktop PC's though. SSF has worked fine for me with Panzer Dragoon and the Dragon force series.

Blame it on SSF being closed source because Japs can't into open source for some reason. If it was open source, it would already be an amazing emulator without a shitty cryptic UI that requires you to use discs or mount the images on a virtual drive.

Also, even when the emulator is supposedly compatible, it's hard as hell finding a good dump of the games. Every fucking site seems to have them in some shitty format that causes nothing but headaches. Pisses me off.

Oh, right. I'll just burn another disc.

That'll solve everything.

I shouldn't want an emulator worth a damn at all.

Because I can just make another disc. To play it on the machine separate from the computer.

That's brilliant.

SSF + WinCDEmu

>> No.800064

Because the Saturn is fucking hard to emulate properly. The number 1 source of complications in emulation is not the computational power of the components you're trying to emulate, but the number of them working simultaneously. It's really, really hard to figure out exactly how such systems behave when they all try to access the same resources at once, and even once you understand it, the resulting emulator is necessarily slow due to having to constantly synchronize the various components.

Go look at the Saturn's Technical Specifications on Wikipedia. Look at how many processors, coprocessors, DSPs and microcontrollers they shoved into that fucking thing.

There's light at the end of the tunnel: The guy who just released a cycle-accurate Genesis emulator says he plans to use the framework he used to build that emulator to build a Saturn emulator. The bad news: He says he plans to do a Dreamcast emulator first.

That the developer of the most accurate Genesis emulator thinks it's easier to emulate the Dreamcast than it is to emulate the Saturn should tell you something.

>>799580
>Japs can't into open source
Yeah, this is part of it, too. They keep too much closed source, don't give a shit about portability to anything other than Windows, and unlike people of every other ethnicity, they refuse to cooperate with English speakers (aka 99% of the emulator engineering community). I don't trust any of their emulators.

>> No.800095

I'd recommend Yabause, but it is really slow in Software mode, and really glitchy in OpenGL mode. There's basically no winning with it.

I've uploaded full packs of all pal/usa titles back on ugamer. Most sites have changed their collection of shit into those good bin/cues. I know that Emuparadise almost exclusively switched to them.

>> No.800269

>>800095
Yabause is shit for anything except debugging, and they are progressively ruining that part too with all the changed/removed features.

>>800064
>The number 1 source of complications in emulation is not the computational power of the components you're trying to emulate, but the number of them working simultaneously.

Nah. The number 1 problem is that EVERY component has 1 jillion features to emulate, and most emu authors just don't have that amount of time or patience to test all that. And don't forget that the Saturn uses quadrangle drawing, basically meaning that you have to code a quirky sprite renderer from scratch.

And then you have some stuff like the SCU DSP where the documentation is incomplete or inaccurate, just for bonus fun, and you have to manually debug program code to find the missing instructions.

Like Steve Snake said, writing a Saturn emu wouldn't be hard, just time consuming.

>> No.800775

Actually yes, number of components running parallel affects emulation CPU requirements more than clock speed

>> No.800781

>TFW no accurate open source Saturn emulator

>> No.800821

>>800775
In general, yes, but its only the reason why Saturn emulation is slow, not the reason why its incomplete.

Also, many components on the Saturn are highly independent, so you would only need to sync 3-4 subsystems at set intervals.
