How could other companies compete in 1992?

By making good games instead of relying on meme graphics. There is a reason why Sega failed and is surviving solely by weebshit like vocaloids

By not making arcade racing games when they weren't able to. There you go.

This game really did btfo of everything else at the time, same as Virtua Fighter, and it's still surprisingly fun, especially considering everything about it should be "objectively" better in a newer racing game

I wish this one game would get a dedicated emulator that had a nice menu for options and force feedback and shit.
all this mame crap and external force feedback installation is giving me a headache.

As early as 1988 Namco already tried something similar, although unlike VR, Winning Run was locked to cockpit view.

I'm assuming I upset you.

For a game like my Daytona USA concept, including everything Daytona-related should be in the core game. So that means a full track complement of the original game, CCE (plus Deluxe), 2001, and 2/PE as well as four new courses and a selection of cars from each of those games, with handling characteristics representative of their source games, and a few new ones with a new handling model. There is also the ability to customize the cars for online racing mode and a single-player career mode.

Delivering on all of that, anything beyond this context is fair for DLC, which would come in the form of three packs that include every course from Super GT Plus/Le Mans 24 (but not Sarthe), the Saturn Virtua Racing, and Indy 500 with a selection of cars inspired by each game (since they involve licensed vehicles) along with new car customization options.

Yeah they failed. They aren't in the hardware business. 4 straight failures, Sega CD/32x/Saturn/Dreamcast.
Sammy makes the paCHINKo shit which makes all the money. Segas revenue all comes from weebshit like Miku and Persoyna. Without those they would be irrelevant in vidya
