>$40 MSRP/ $32 KS
>2.4 Ghz

How do y’all feel about this?
$40 isn’t that much considering the only real good options for wireless are either the Brook wireless adapter with a DS3/DS4 or the expensive Katana Wireless.
My concern is mainly the D-Pad, the D-Pad on their N64/Dreamcast controller was pretty garbage and their analog sticks can feel kind of “light”

>Just use the corded OEM
These wireless controllers aren’t for you.

It was a fun gimmick when you were a kid but the input lag and battery concerns aren't worth it.

Since everything is hooked to my flatscreen via OSSC now days it’s very convenient to have a wireless controller unless I wanna daisy chain the Ps1 from my TV stand to the Coffee Table and then the Controller from there.

I had one of their N64 ones and the B button is stuck down after a few months of light use. Kind of a bummer because I'd love for someone to make controllers that are as good as OEM but it seems no one can do it these days.

This. Having batteries that only last 24 hours of straight game play is a deal breaker. The wireless clickers I used as a kid didn't even need batteries. What the literal fuck is wrong with you whippersnappers?

>> No.7965501

part of the retro experience for me is playing with original controllers. especially with something as iconic as the ps1/2 controller, why would i want anything else? wireless is nice, i guess, but the cords on the oem pads are so long already, i just don't need it.

cool if this is your thing. but if i was going to go wireless i'd rather it be a drop in kit for the og pads.

Retrofighters makes some really cheap, hollow controllers. I remember handling the n64 controller and just squeezing the handles or twisting them slightly had them separate. If you want the best PlayStation controller, the PSOne dualshock is great. Any Dualshock 2 will work fine too.

Why don't they stop copying what's popular and start making something original. nintendo herself did the control in her own way, it's not very good, but at least it's original.

This. In many cases decent modern alternatives aren't even available. Even for standard controllers for meme systems like N64 and GC. And special controllers, light guns, forget about it.
And if someone really needs wireless they can either mod an original controller or get a wireless adapter. I'm sure the latter will trigger some people too young to remember the Wii, but that's literally how most extra controllers worked. Plugged into the wimote with a cable.

Have you never heard of extension cables, my dude?

Far cheaper, foolproof, and no added latency whatsoever.

I think the losers on this website who play their retro consoles 3 feet from their 19 inch CRTs forget that modern living rooms with 65+ inch plus flat screens have adjusted their seating distance to match. Not everyone wants to sit on the floor like a 5 year old with an OEM controller with a 5 foot cable. Btw i was pleasantly surprised when my Hyperkin N64 controller came with a 10 foot cord by default, really put into perspective how short the cord lengths we had to deal with back then with OEM

>> No.7967160

>>7966128
Retro Fighters isn't that great. I respect what they're doing, it's great to have alternatives, but they are purposefully trying to fill a market space with a less expensive alternative, that isn't all that much less expensive.

You're better off with Retro-bit over these guys.

I hear good things about Old Skool Games, though. Supposedly their Gameboy Player controller for GameCube was pretty solid for how totally inexpensive it was. They have an ugly looking PS2 controller as well.

Actually, 5 feet is the recommended viewing distance for a 65 inch 4k display. You could probably do 10 feet, but any more than that and you're sitting too far away from your TV to get any benefit from 4k.

So maybe move your couch closer, or buy an extension cable bro.

>> No.7967204

>>7967138
Most extension cables are chinkshit that lose signal somehow. I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with them.

>>7967167
>5 foot away from a 65 inch
I’ve actually done this when I temporarily hooked my PC up to my Tv. Put a small folding table in front and played No Man’s Sky (which has been patched to meet our original expectations, a good game). It was an incredible experience, but you are insane if you think that type of seating distance is appropriate for a living room. Maybe if you lived in a Tokyo apartment, but I have a 3000k square foot house sitting on 5 acres right here. I’m not getting a 150 inch screen to meet your definition of correct viewing distance. Some us here have a normal house with a wife and kids and guests to entertain, we can’t just be living in the ideal gamer mancave

So what distance do you sit from your TV? I have a house, and generally I'm still something like 10 to 12 feet (same size screen). I don't make the TV the center of the entire living experience though, I have lots of space around the area so other people or kids can play and move around or relax, and the viewing experience is optimized for when people do want to plop down (though generally I'm not running the home theater when I entertain).

One set of extension cables is all I need for that setup, or like you said a decent aftermarket controller, like those from Retrobit that actually include a big ol' cable for the modern era.

Personally all the extension cables I've got for Saturn, N64, SNES, and even Neo Geo have been good, although I will say I generally buy from legit sellers. The Saturn ones were the only ones I was really taking a chance on, but those turned out alright. Even so, I use the Retrobit controller on that more often anyway.
