Sur de Wave's sstory is pretty sad. They were an all-star team of devs, and they had a few games like Little Samson and Cocoron made for the Famicom presumably because it was quick and cheap to produce them and the Famicom was still popular in japan. However, it really meant these games had little traction outside of Japan when they could have been hits in America if made for the Mega Drive or Super-Fami. Then they made Nostalgia 1907, a text adventure set on an early 20th century luxury liner.

The game bombed. Why did they even make it? Kouichi Yotsui was given a green light by management to create whatever he wanted with whatever budget because he had made Strider. This is a cautionary tale, where people whine about big bad execs, but sometimes creative types make stupid decisions that sink companies.

The result is that people started to jump ship and the company was nearly bankrupt. Akira Kitamura left first, and joined Mitchel where he made Funky Jet. It led to the cancellation of a number of projects. PC Cocoron is either a remake or sequel of Cocoron for the PC-Engine seemingly made after Kitamura had left the company. And Pop'n Land is a game with a similar premise made for the Mega CD. Both cancelled and both supposedly nearly complete with prototypes held by collectors.

If Cocoron and Little Samson were SFC and PCE games I think the history of the company would be totally different.

there was an mmorpg that was being developed for the xbox hueg and it was pretty much done and it got shitcanned 6 months before release. there were mounts it looked kind of like wow except with better graphics. wish they would of made it I was really hyped for it I dont even know the name

It sucks, apparently the game was almost fully made and completed it was playable the only reason they cancelled it was because they couldn't figure out how to implement voice chat for a server of 3000 players. we will never get to play it and its all because of voice chat
