Super Mario RPG taught me to read so I give it to that one. Lately I've been playing a lot of Paper Mario on the 64 and Mario no Super Picross. I love the dialogue and backgrounds in PM, it might be the comfiest Mario game for me

Sunshine is dope too. Probably more dialogue than any other 3D Mario game so we get a lot of lore and world building. Piantas are one of the coolest more recent races

Super Mario Land 2, it has some of the most unique level themes and designs, I always get a kick out of seeing all the weirdness it had to offer. It's typical for Mario games to feel like obstacle courses, but Super Mario Land 2 felt like a weird little island that could actually exist somewhere in the Mushroom Kingdom. It also introduced Wario, so that's a huge plus.

Mario Superstar Baseball for GameCube. If Mario Golf is relaxing and Mario Tennis is more exciting, then it's like a combination between those two feelings. It's perfect to enjoy casually and also competitively.

Luigi's Mansion or Wario Land 3, although I'd probably lean more towards Luigi's Mansion unless I can say the entire Wario Land series, it's hard picking a favorite.

Aside from that and a few wtf moments, this is probably the most faithful Mario tv adaptation.

On account of SML being one of the first games I've ever played and the only Mario game I've ever owned, I'm gonna say SML.
