Anyone ever play this game, and if so what'd you think of it? I've seen some footage on YouTube and it looks really cool, but I wanted to hear your experiences.

One of my all time favorite horror games, and favorite games in general.
Would rank it up there with RE, Silent Hill, and Clock Tower, and is my personal favorite.

>> No.7934532

One of the greatest horror games, not exearating, everything about it feels creepy and discomforting

>> No.7934562

I'll have to disagree with you guys. I was very disappointed with this game that I really didn't find scary at all (and it comes from someone fucking terrified by the first 3d Clock Tower).

Maybe it was because you can see the enemy's position at all time on the map? Maybe because the main (and only, IIRC) enemy doesn't look scary?

I'm playing the beginning right now and have to agree! I like all the different companion lines and how they change depending on the situation you're in.

Lol, I didn't even notice this while playing through the sewer. Thanks.

Fuck. I started playing through this and didn't know you could do that, honestly the game is scarier without that knowledge. Guess I'll just have to resist the temptation to constantly check.

I've seen youtube videos of it ages ago, it made me shit bricks. I'll try it myself someday. Also pic related is not a horror game but it gives me similar vibes

I didn't know where to go and found it boring. Drop it after 2 hours.

Looks like a terribly uninspired corridor walking game. You could argue it's creepy and therefore "scary", but it's a matter of perspective. I used get scared by backtracking through hallways in HL1, just because there would be no enemies and no ambient music. You eventually grow out of that.

Hellnight... not scary, not well designed, not interesting. It's a shitty game.

You'd have to really suck to lose her.
Especially since she has that hidden power that can "kill" the monster.

>> No.7937707

It's super trash. Plays like a grid dungeon crawler like the first SMT which makes sense since it's Atlus I guess, but overall it's bad an uninteresting. setting was mildly interesting I guess, but I remember some shitty sci-fi twist at the end that ruined it for me
Also I swear that right after beating this game, I found it for $10 at a second hand store. And then I never saw this game anywhere else ever again. That alone was scarier than anything in this shitty game. I never bought it though. Probably goes for an insane price now too.

I always assume Americans get confused with units that aren't their own so I just type everything in dollars

i moved up to the 2nd level and got lost or something and kinda forgot to carry on playing

weird coincidence, just started this one, freaks me out well so far, the slow controls really make you terrified when trying to escape something(effect similar to RE with tank controls)
I haven't got far so can't really say how the whole game will feel but the first person perspective and point n click elements feel unique and the companions dialogue at different situations is pretty cool too

Naomi's psychic and can sense the monster. If she dies you'll lose the ability to see it on the map.
Kill her off early if you don't care to see her ending and want a more tense game.

There are multiple partners with their own endings and you can only have one at a time. Naomi is the first person you meet and the only way to remove her is to let the monster kill her.

It's still pretty retarded that the first sidekick is absolutely overpowered.

So you can't just switch them around?
Also why do people suddenly talk to me in the mesh when Im walking around? I see no characters and someone starts yapping to me about random stuff, and I cant trigger them again, are these potential companions?

There are people living in the upper levels. Sometimes you bump into some of the residents while wandering around, these are scripted.
Companions will be pretty obvious when you meet them. They don't have a prefix before their name like the local weirdos and usually have a lot more to say. They'll offer to join if you're alone.

>> No.7939094

The game is a creepy for sure but the gameplay is either annoyingly difficult (in some areas) or way too easy.

Yeah. I think a pretty good indicator they are recruitable is they will have an FMV intro before they appear.
Better yet, you can see 4 of the 5 recruitable characters introduced in the first opening FMV.

interesting story, atmosphere, and aesthetics

most of the gameplay is just running away from stupid NPCs while puzzle solving. would have loved the game if it were more like echo night
