This game is extremely fun and crazy. I'm guessing it's a Gradius parody.

Also, thanks to the anon who recommended this.

Best damn shmup on the Dreamcast.

Also, anyone here want to see Raiden II (Or better yet, The Raiden Project) get remade in HD? I consider it to be the pinnacle of 2D graphical detail.

I would argue even Metal Slug doesn't match the type, although Metal Slug is missing a lot of effects from the beta due to engine optimization.

Raiden never was really much to look at. All muddy browns and greens, only in the later games like Raiden 2 (on Raiden Project and DX) would you get some space levels. Even then they were fairly bland

I was imagining that if they redid the original Raiden they'd change the graphics around so they'd reflect Raiden II's style.

Raiden II's space levels weren't the cool part, it was mostly the Earth-based stages anyway. Recall that this kind of shit was groundbreaking in 1993. The to-be-Nazca devs couldn't hold a candle to it in Fire Barrel and even in 1995 ex-Toaplan employees made a joke of it in Air Gallet.

I imagine that at the time the original Raiden came out it was considered to have good graphics as well, it's just that the 1990s were so long ago it has a "Seinfeld is unfunny" effect to it. Moss' own development team commented in an interview that Raiden was supposed to be an outlet for pushing graphical detail, as opposed to Gun Dogs/Raiden Fighters which was supposed to stress gameplay and replay value in a more hardcore military environment.

>>798101

I think he means "when it becomes available", which according to my sources at least is sometime very, very soon.

I honestly wouldn't know myself. What the shit are all those versions for, anyway?

>>793512

I think the last thing I played was Desert War by NMK. I recently discovered that ex-NMK devs were responsible for the masterpiece that was Change Air Blade, so I decided to try out some of their previous games. I was not disappointed one bit.
