Ok bro. Arcades were cool and all but once you ran outta quarters all you could do was watch people play.

We have been in an arcade resurgence the last few years. If you are not going to the arcade that's on you. I suggest you go before they lose relevance again.

It wasn't just arcades back then either. We didn't even have one in the town I grew up in. But there were still cabs everywhere.
I played Bad Dudes and some side scrolling airplane game I can't remember the name of at the local burger and BBQ joint.
The video store had Pit Fighter and some random beat em ups.
Walmart was the best though, they changed them out regularly and I remember playing Metal Slug, NARC, Area 51, House of the Dead, and some other awesome stuff there.

Arcades still exist, if that's what you're into.

I was born just some years before the turning of the millenium, and I never got to experience an arcade like you (and I honestly don't care much).
There are also things I miss dearly from my child/teen years, but I see that these are less related to the activity itself, and more relate to that period of your life, when your future was a mistery and you had not a single care in the world, and the friends you had at that time, of course.

This attitude here is why you let jews suck your wallet dry with soulless remakes and shit ports.

I don't miss the arcades. I don't miss the screaming little shits running around. I don't miss some random asshole shoving you into the machine and then running for it. I don't miss thieves trying to grab your quarters or wallet when you were playing. I don't miss having to pay 25 cents every single life/play. I don't miss the machines that had volume turned up to 589 with the speakers right next to your ears. I don't miss the burnt-in screens, iffy buttons, or worn out joysticks. I don't miss driving 20-30 miles only to find they got rid of my favorite machine.

The only thing I miss is playing games I actually liked with people I actually cared about. The only people who play the games I like these days are people who've played them to death and make the game unfun with their speedrun shit, and the people I like don't even have time to play videogames anymore.

There's arcades still around, as people have already said. I go to a barcade and play trivia and some games with friends on a regular basis.

There's also like fighting game and net cafe style places, I go to those with friends and play tournaments or just a bunch of fighting games, it's a similar experience of just playing games with a big group in a public place.

That sounds like a different problem.
