This game is shit. Shallow gameplay, shitty britshit "humor", eyesore visuals. Another of the classic Rare overhyped dogshit titles.
Wizards & Warriors and RC Pro-AM are the only good games they ever made

Playing through it now. Coming off of DK64, it's disorienting that this isn't a collectathon and more of a straight forward puzzle platformer. It works in its favor, but I'm having to look up a guide at some times to figure out what to do.

I love how the game looks and controls, but some parts of it I despise. The sunflower bit where you have to jump is outright broken. The fall damage makes him way too weak.

The humor is hit and miss for me. Some of it is clever and gets a smile, then the rest is 99/00 Era South Park cringe.

Haven’t gotten there yet, and not being able to click through a lot of the cutscenes does suck. I get the South Park comparison but think it actually still has charm. Thanks for the post!

It's one of the best written games ever and has a Metal Gear Esque Meta-Awareness to the story. Some people will think it's just a bunch of piss and shit jokes, but if that's all that it was meant to be it wouldn't have the ending it does. It's important to remember that Conker isn't a Comedy game, it's a Tragedy one, though it is a Comedic Tragedy. It also pokes fun at a ton of gameplay conventions while still embracing them, rather than childishly just tossing them away like a lesser developer would do. It's truly like one of those amazing one hit wonder albums, because it was just created by the right people, at the right time, in the right sort of environment. It's probably the greatest video game of all time in terms of incorporating both cinematic, story telling, and gameplay elements into a cohesive blend.

I've no idea how I managed to control the thing but I played it via an emulator almost 15 years ago with keyboard controls, stopped shortly after the Great Mighty Poo fight and got bored.

Started playing it last week via Rare Replay and the controls are shocking. Agree with this anon >>7887421 about the fall damage and humour, it's not really for me anymore but I can appreciate what it is and I liked it as a teenager.

Tip for fall damage, as long as you havent fallen far enough for Conker to start tumbling, you can use his tailspin hover to reset your initial falling position. Like using the ground pound in Mario 64 to negate fall damage, but if you’re too high up it doesnt work.

There are some huge drops where this technique doesnt matter at all, but it can be handy on occasion.

Also random tip, the crouch jump takes you higher but your regular jump actually takes you a bit further.
