Perhaps, but Enigma's end result was something unique and (clearly) inspirational. I can't complain that some videogame composers were influenced by their work and other New Age-y musicians to varying degrees; I enjoy that type of music and love hearing it and derivatives of it in games. Even a lot of game tracks directly influenced by some of their works are great in their own right.
Like David Wise was clearly influenced by/referencing Vangelis's Theme from Antarctica when composing In a Snow-Bound Land, but I actually prefer the use of a more driving melody in IASBL.

But the piano track and the chord progression particularly when it's in major still sound forecasty to me even if that is the case. I'm not saying they went for a weather channel vibe, they probably did base it on Enigma, just that it ends up like it, probably because new age "worldbeat" synth stuff was pretty common on those channels. Trammel's tracks sound like that style.
