You have to be able to do a backwards jump through a pipe at the end of the procedure, can't take shortcuts or warps, must go through the entire game without dying or getting hit and then you have to get into the first warp zone via the wall jump through the wall, then the last pipe, if the room is not loaded fully, will lead to the title screen with a new option below the 2nd player option called "Super Player Mode".
I've given precise directions, but since I was laughed at every time, I'm not sharing the full thing anymore.

So get good at wall jumps, then ask here about it some other time, or maybe I'll get a bug up my ass and do it myself, but it's been so long it'd take me a week at least of dedication. Believe it or not, I've told you the truth.

It'll be great. There's other games with hidden content that worth seeing too and some of it involves aspects of the NES you'd not expect. This. The level design is much more constrained towards singular approaches due to the methods they used towards making the game more difficult, contains more bad design unknowable elements by orders of magnitude ("harmful" invisible blocks made to fuck Mario over originated here, they overused repeating maze layouts that you would only figure out by repetition).

It's a shitty romhack before shitty romhacks, not a proper sequel and very little of its difficulty is honest difficulty - if you can beat SMB1 your losses in SMB2 most likely won't be execution failures on your part but unpredicted or invisible layout fuckery instead. Doki Doki Panic was a dramatically better product.

>Emulators don't count
It was released officially on the Wii ackshuylee

>> No.7884723

Yes, it is my favorite Mario game and I genuinely consider it a masterpiece. It has like FOUR points that are unfair for first time players, the rest is fair but people get buttblasted about being shit and blame the game. And those unfair moments are all next to very weird, standout level design which acts as a signpost to repeat players about the hazard coming up, making it fair for repeat playthroughs. People dont catch this nuance cause they suck and hear the game’s reputation and just write it off, instead of treating it like an arcade game designed for repeat playthroughs to see how far you get.

People hear shit that is flatout wrong and repeat it. “You have to beat the game eight times in a row without game overs to see all the worlds” No you dont. The game saves how many times you beat the game, each time a star is added to the title. This persists after turning the console on/off, it fucking saves it. You beat it eight times total, you can access the secret worlds. You can get game overs in between. It doesnt have to be in a row, or in one sitting.

You can access world 9 even if you get game overs. The condition is just not using warps. Any time you get a game over, a continue screen lets you restart from X-1 with X being whatever world you died in. It’s no more punishing than the first game, and this time you dont even need a cheatcode to continue.

People dont know any of this, they dont even know the game can SAVE, because they barely play it. Or the play it like a fag with emulator savestates and never touch it after “””beating””” the game once. I repeat, people who say this shit DONT EVEN KNOW THE GAME CAN SAVE YOUR CLEARS. They dont know the game at all.

If people gave this game even half the thought they give for games like Wizardry or Dark Souls or even fucking Cuphead, they’d see it for the expertly, fairly designed game it is. It’s fucking fun.

It also gets nowhere near enough credit for giving Luigi his own physics.

This is going to sound crazy. But I swear, when I was ten years old. I was at my cousins house. He had a Commodore 64 with a floppy drive and a bunch of games. One of the games he had was Super Mario Bros 2 remade for the C64. I remember it, because it was the first time I saw "poison mushrooms" obstacle. But I could never find any existence of it. Also, the NES my parents got me and the rest of my family for Christmas had a Nintendo Power add in it, with a screenshot of Super Mario Bros 2. I completed the version on the Game Boy Color first. Then I completed the Lost levels on the SNES. But never did complete the original Famicom Disk System game.

I wish we would have gotten official Nintendo "rom hacks" of games during the VC era. How could it would've been to have Kirby Super Star with remixed levels and maybe a new thing or two. But it probably would've been too costly to have to yank out the old shit and people that can program for it, or outright not worth it to port it just for that

This isn't even believable considering Miyamoto and Tezuka? designed levels on paper. They'd make 32 extra levels and nobody knows about it? Pfft
