What's the best way to play with a SS controller on PC?
USB-knock off or adapters? Best adapters?

>> No.7856649

can't recommend any adaptors but definitely avoid any third-party stuff like the plague.

I use the 8bitdoodoo M30, it's not the best controller out there but it's light years better than any of the chink Saturn knockoffs.

There is a Retro-Bit controller that is on a par with the quality of the original controller. It has USB and Bluetooth and it's licensed by SEGA.

I have used both the USB ones and adapters just find what is most convenient and best for your situation. I really wanted to get that original nVidia card with the Saturn controller ports but those are hard to find.

Back in my day, that is called "blister packaging". It has the benefit of being clear to show the product to the customer and also large enough such that it is a slight theft deterrent keeping the small product from being easily pocketed.

>>7859480
I do not know who that is. Back then they were about $30-$40USD each new. These days you can get USB ones for under $20USD.

It was from the 2nd run which was a long while back. I think it is as good as the first run of the USB controllers. If you like that one, maybe you may like the one on the lower right here. The color is called "Champagne Gold" which works well with its black buttons. Sorry, the lighting conditions aren't right to show it off here I also need to clean these after all the use.

I have one of those for the Wii Classic Controller, and I would get random shoulder button presses or releases from time to time. I haven't used it in a long time. Currently I'm using >>7856663, it's laggy on android with bluetooth, but it's still pretty good.

I have not tried those yet. I think the clear blue plastic is very nice looking. I am saving up to get one sometime around Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

They have an additional select button and the start button is "play" button shaped similar to stock Playstation controllers.

Must be a driver overhead thing. Did you update the firmware?

>> No.7861989

this, however it’s very easy to replace the switches with ones from a Saturn controller with minimal soldering skill

You can either pull them out of a real controller, or buy the switches online, they drop right in.

>> No.7862480

>>7862018
He's obviously collecting them ? Also saturn controllers are cheap. Selling them wont fix anything as these will pay a months rent tops. Whats more they're not really very sought after and they will take some time to sell at market value.

Lol. You really shouldnt be expecting quality just because its licensed by sega. They may have gotten the molds from them but its no guarentee. Also they can cheap out on the rubbers and plastics.

>> No.7862810

I got some cheap Saturn USB controller and an actual Saturn controller with a broken wire, and swapped the internals. It's okay, wouldn't recommend.

>it's not the best controller out there

Isn't it? I've tried a few and nothing comes close to the d-pad on the M30.

>> No.7863432

Doesnt its use DB9? Which is a PC connection?
Cant you just find one connection and install it to your pc to make it work?

>> No.7863453

>>7856816
I use this one, works fine for me. Granted I am a zoomer who never played on the original Saturn hardware so I wouldn't notice any small problems or inaccuracies. But compared to say, the series x controller's d-pad with native support even, the Saturn one feels far more responsive for things like shmups.
