Mega Man X through X4. But I also like the classic series, even though I stick more to 7, 8 and Bass.

By the way, some people prefer Metal Slug 2 to X. Could you elaborate why? I do know both of them, though I'd like a little insight about the charms of Metal Slug 2 over X.

aha ahhhh metal slugs are just arcade coin eating bullet hells and x is just slightly harder imho. pizza place in my town only ever had mg2 cabinet aha.

optimal upgrade path every time? buster only? no damage?? aha

>>7854947
...have you... have you ever beat it? I've had my nes cart of it for years and man this thing is hard as shit. I'm still super stocked every time I can beat unicorn aha.

I beat all three, the arcade versions and snes, multiple times. They're still tough though lol

Megaman 1-3 and Megaman X.
Starfox 64, Perfect Dark, and Ocarina of Time.
I don't personally count them but the sticky does, Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 3 are my most replayed single player games by a landslide.

>prefer 2 to X
Because it's a better, more balanced game. X is basically the dipshit Kaizo romhack version where they made it unplayably hard.
I guess the base game was too easy and they were not milking as much quarters as they wanted, otherwise X has no reason to exist.

I play Cotton on the Sharp X68000 a lot, practically every day. It's top comfy.

That depends entirely on what "most replayed (in full or in part) " means. Number of times restarted? Time spent playing after first restart? I decided to replay Pokemon Crystal about 15 years ago. Provided the battery hasn't died haven't I technically been playing the entire time?

>otherwise X has no reason to exist
Have you actually played MS2 on a real cabinet?
There's plenty of reason why X exists. It's just a slightly tweaked MS2 in a new engine. The original MS2 had such massive framerate issues that this was seen as being worth it

Based Streets of Rage. I literally just bought an Xbox Series X controller just a week ago with the specific purpose of playing the entire franchise from the original Streets of Rage before finally giving 4 a spin. I was actually just playing the first one 30 minutes ago and LMAO I’m so seriously bad after having not touched the game since I ditched my Genesis decades ago but having the time of my life right now. 1 feels a little rusty though but I look forward to reaching 2 and 3.

Mega Man X and A Link to the Past I think are my most replayed.
Chrono Trigger probably my most replayed /vr/ JRPG, although Final Fantasy IV is not that far behind it, which is weird because I liked Final Fantasy VI more just it was a game I used to test out SNES emulators when they were fairly new and it's been remade and ported a bunch of times. I think I played VI (as III) maybe 3 times on the SNES, once more on emulator, and then the GBA port?
But CT had great Replayability with all the different endings
the other 2.. IDK, I can just blow through them pretty quickly and they're nostalgic as fuck.

I played through the snes port of EotB so many times as a kid and was the first person in a line of men from my family to actually beat it. Everytime I played it I found something new. Eventually I started making wonky parties just to see how well they would do. I can clear first 5 floors or so just with muscle memory.

Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, Kirby Super Star, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I play at least one of those about once a year. Always a good way to burn through a lazy afternoon or lazy weekend.

In non-retro, but I also replay Dark Souls pretty regularly.

Tetris GB, Doom, Quake 3 Arena, Unreal Tournament 99, Pokemon gen 1 and 2 aside from Crystal and Gold and Kirby's Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland. Thousands of hours combined of those. Feels rather unpleasant considering them to be "retro" now.

>> No.7861151

>>7860410
It's not as in depth as other crawlers and it doesn't have much of a story, but I think for the most part I think the d&d theme, character creation, dungeon lay out and puzzles (despite just being about levers and holes) make up for it greatly. To be fair, I do think the last few levels leave a little to be desired. Check out the second one if you haven't yet on pc. It adds a lot of variety.

desu one of the things I dislike, is food meters and the need to carry around rations. "survival" mechanics are generally a nuissance, and making themselves more of one with the latest surge of gay ass open world crafting survival games.

Super Metroid. Playing new metroidvanias leaves me with the feeling that they are missing consistency. They do not write a story using environment, like metroid does.

I just like this game a lot.

>> No.7861240

>>7861161
You'd need to play d&d to know this, but at level 3 or 4 clerics can cast "create food" which makes food trivial because you can cast it before every rest. I never go without a cleric unless I want to have a bad time lol.

For me must be metal gear solid for ps1. Finished countless of times. Loved the game as a kid when it came out.
