7 is easily the weakest classic MM and I don't know how anyone who finished any of the other games could claim the dumbed down shitfests that are 5 and 6 are better than any of the others.

The only really good level in 7 was Shade Man's, everything else forgettable except for the ending. MM&B is much better even if it's just a remix of MM8.

I find MM&B to be worse than 7, but I like that game also. My only problem with MM&B is how cheap the game can be and how tedious the King bosses are. I liked just about every stage in 7 except for Freeze Man, Junk Man, and Turbo Man. I especially liked Slash Man's stage. The bosses were also fun to buster only, and I actually enjoy the final boss because I learned how to dodge its attacks. Biggest issue with 7 is how slow it feels. The sprites are bigger and yet the scrolling speed is the same as the NES games so it feels slower, and there's also the unskippable cutscenes that you can't even hold B to speed up for some reason even though that was a feature in Mega Man X1-2. 7 has its flaws but I do not see how it ranks below 1 and 2 or 5 and 6 or any of the gameboy titles.

7 isn't a bad game, but I don't know how the fuck people can rank it higher than most of the series. It does some interesting things, but it's simply outclassed. 9 and 10 are easily the peak of classic with 4. I'd even say 6 is better. I had more fun with the jet adapter than 7's.

I've never understood the love for 9. M-MUH USEFUL WEAPONS! Level design is still dumbfuck romhack tier with tons of retarded instant deaths and beginner's traps because LE NINTENDO HARD meme. It also feels like absolute shit to play thanks to almost every pit in the game endlessly spawning enemies as you try to jump over. Nothing like ALWAYS jerking to the left and shooting before moving on, feels great to never have forward momentum in a level.

10's level design is far more fair and far more fun to play through.

Mega Man 7 was a return to the classic series' gameplay and wasn't made to surpass X1. It's a flawed game, but not a bad one. X1 is such a masterpiece that it makes 7 look weak in comparison. That being said, I would still rather play 7 than any other game in the X series, and very few games in the classic series are what I would consider better than 7.

7's soundtrack is boring and sounds like crap. Capcom is weird in that they were clearly the best to ever use the SNES soundchip (X1 and X2, Goof Troop, Aladdin) but they actually got worse at it over time, using weaker and shittier samples on their later titles.
