I like the CV4 Dracula because he sticks to being Dracula instead of having an otherkin fursona. In Bloodlines you basically have to fight like 9 bosses in a row at the end, I do not care for that.

- if you want to do it the cheap way, use the axe. The number of subweapons you can throw at once depends on how much hearts you have. If you die, and want to cheap this fucker with axes, you're better off using a continue.

Yeah you need patience. What I do is stick to the middle platform, only throw axes if he's in sight, and only move to the adjacent platforms if he spawns on the middle platform.

Other people recommend to stick to the right side where there are two platforms back to back so don't get knockbacked into the pit, but I never liked going there

There's a bone serpent in the stage that drops a lot of hearts. You can re-enter his room over and over to collect more. Once you have about 65 hearts, you can easily end up with 99 at Dracula.
Then you can stand at the lowest pillar with the cross sub-weapon. Very easy to hit him with that in phase one. You can duck to cancel knock-back when hit.
Then at phase two, just spam item crash until he's dead.

Yeah I figured that and went twice each time I had to restart. But it's only useful on your first life, so I ended just beating it without even using a single item crush. I just spammed crosses in the 2nd phase. For the first phase I used your strategy : with good timing you can actually hit him 4 times with a single cross.

Yeah but no, you're makingn wild assumptions here. Anyone who's not an idiot can find a damage table and change values, but changing hit detection and enemy AI and timing issues is a lot more complicated, especially on a system like the X68K which basically has zero debugging material.

Also, while I said "hacked rom", I was making an assumption myself; For all I know there are several official versions of the game, revisions with different damage values. I have no proof that this was a hacked rom other than the fact that the Chronicles version uses the higher dmg values.

But even if you make the assumption that they issues existed in the original game and someone fixed them, for a system with no debugging tools, and tried to pass his hack as the official game without taking any credit; you're still left with things like the cropped screen and poor audio conversion of Chronicles

For me personally, even though RoB is probably objectively the better game for the smoother controls and the new shit it brings, I don't feel like it does all the much with said new shit. Dracula X doesn't exactly take it further or anything either and instead is more like the games before them with a new coat of paint, but I suppose that's why I like it more. That, and I just prefer its smoothed over graphics and snes music over Rondo's sharper, more pixelated affair with redbook audio and really dingy sound effects, but that too is just my preferences.

The real fun with Simon's Quest is learning the best route to complete the game in an hour or so. You don't need to patch the game. You won't talk to anyone in a optimized playthrough anyway. Just learn who sells what, and where important items are (you don't need most of them).
Yeah, there's the crouch by lake and cliff bullshit, but there's not that much to learn.

This was a problem? It took me several times to beat Dracula in this game, and I remember I was soon able to easily get through the level up to Dracula without taking any damage. I didn't even mind it because the level had a cool song, got me pumped to face the Count.
